Description
本出願は、2018年4月6日に出願された米国仮特許出願第62/654,197号に基づく優先権及びその利益を主張するものであり、該出願を参照することにより、該出願全体を本明細書の一部として援用する。
いくつかの態様において、極低温でポリプロピオラクトン(PPL)を粉砕して粉末を形成する工程、及びこの粉末を押出成形してフィルムを形成する工程を含むフィルムの製造方法を提供する。
いくつかの実施形態において、PPLは中間分子量PPL(MMW PPL)である。他の実施形態において、PPLは高分子量PPL(HMW PPL)である。
本明細書に記載する方法においては、PPLは、極低温で粉砕し、PPL粉末を形成してもよい。極低温でのPPLの粉砕は、一段階又は二段階で行える。
いくつかの実施形態において、粉末は、粉砕されたPPLの粒子を含む。いくつかの実施形態において、粉末は、微細に粉砕されたPPLの粒子を含む。いくつかの実施形態において、粉末は実質的に均一なサイズの微細に粉砕されたPPLの粒子を含む。いくつかの実施形態において、粉末は、約300μm~約3,000μm、約500μm~約2,000μm、又は約700μm~約1,000μmの粒径を有する粒子を含む。
本明細書に記載の方法において、極低温でPPLを粉砕することにより製造される粉末は、フィルムを製造するために押出成形される。種々の押出技術がフィルムを製造するために用いられ得る。いくつかの実施形態において、溶融押出、流延押出又はインフレーション成形が用いられ得る。
他の変形形態において、粉末は、ブロー成形され、バルク包装用途での使用に適切な大きな直径及び/又は幅の広いフィルムを製造し得る。例えば、一態様において、極低温でPPLを粉砕して粉末を形成する工程、及びこの粉末をブロー成形してフィルムを形成する工程を含むフィルムの製造方法を提供する。
ある態様において、本明細書に記載する方法のいずれかに従って製造されるフィルムが提供される。他の態様において、一定のバイオコンテンツ及び堆肥化能(compostability)、並びに一定の機械特性及び物性を有するPPLフィルムが提供される。
本明細書に記載の方法に従って製造されるフィルムは再生可能な供給原料から得られる。例えば、使用するPPLが一部又は全て再生可能な供給原料から得られる場合、そのようなPPLから製造されるPPLフィルムは、0%(w/w)より大きなバイオコンテンツを有する。上述するように、原料のバイオコンテンツを測定するための種々の技術が当分野で知られている。
いくつかの実施形態において、本明細書の方法に従って製造されるフィルムは、従来のポリオレフィンフィルムを含む従来のフィルムより優れた堆肥化能特性を有する。
いくつかの実施形態において、フィルムは、約800MPa~1100MPa、又は約835MPa~約1065MPaの引張弾性率を有する。他の実施形態において、フィルムは、約0.5GPa~約3.6GPa、約1GPa~1.5GPa又は約1GPa~1.1GPaの引張弾性率を有する。
包装
本明細書に記載のPPLフィルムは、再生利用及び/又は再使用が可能であり、種々の用途での使用に適し得る。例えば、いくつかの変形形態において、PPLフィルムは包装(例えば、包装製品など)に使用してもよい。例えば、一変形形態において、フィルムは、包装材料として使用される、又はさらに包装材料に加工される。他の実施形態において、フィルムは収縮包装として使用される。そのようなフィルムは再生利用可能な収縮包装であってもよい。
いくつかの実施形態において、フィルムは、熱分解を受けてアクリル酸を生じ得る。例えば、フィルムを包装材料として使用した後、そのような包装材料を、アクリル酸を製造するために使用してもよい。
2等級のポリプロピオラクトン(PPL)フィルムの製造及び特性評価
この実施例は、中間分子量PPL及び高分子量PPLからのフィルム製造を実証するものである。
ポリプロピオラクトン(PPL)フィルムの製造及び特性評価
本実施例において、PPLフィルムは一般的に実施例1で上述した手法に従って製造した。PPLを溶融押出し、以下の表2に要約される下記特性を有するフィルムを製造した。
Claims (5)
- 80℃~160℃の温度でPPLポリマーを押し出す工程、及び
押し出された前記PPLポリマーをブロー成形してフィルムを形成する工程
を含み、
前記PPLポリマーが100,000g/モル~200,000g/モルの平均分子量(M w )を有する、フィルムの製造方法。 - 前記フィルムが多層である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 押出成形されたポリプロピオラクトン(PPL)を含むフィルムであって、
(a)少なくとも60%(w/w)のバイオコンテンツを有し、
(b)100%まで堆肥化可能であり、
(c)800MPa~1100MPaの引張弾性率の範囲を有し、
(d)25MPa~35MPaの引張破断強度の範囲を有し、若しくは
(e)440%~660%の破断伸度の範囲を有し、又は
(a)~(e)の任意の組合せ
を有し、
前記PPLが、100,000g/モル~200,000g/モルの平均分子量(M w )を有するフィルム。 - 包装材料として使用する、請求項3に記載のフィルム。
- 生物を原料とし、堆肥化可能なフィルムからアクリル酸を製造する方法であって、
請求項3又は4に記載のフィルムを提供する工程、及び
前記フィルムの少なくとも一部を熱分解しアクリル酸を製造する工程
を含む方法。
