本PCT国際出願は、主題が参照により本明細書に組み込まれている、2010年8月18日に出願した米国仮出願第61/374,832号の優先権の権利および利益を本明細書により主張するものである。

本発明は、新規性のある細孔サイズ特性を有する複合濾過補助剤を実現することができる。本明細書で使用されているような「複合濾過補助剤」という用語は、少なくとも1つの濾過補助構成要素およびこの要素に緊密に結合された少なくとも1つの吸着構成要素を備える材料を単に意味するだけである。複合濾過補助剤は、構成物質濾過または吸着構成要素単独のいずれかと著しく異なる特性を有することがある。
酸化ナトリウム(Na2O)およびシリカ(SiO2)を含むいくつかの化合物のうちのどれか1つを指すために、ここではケイ酸ナトリウムが使用される。このような組み合わせとして、例えば、オルトケイ酸ナトリウム(Na4SiO4)、メタケイ酸ナトリウム(Na2SiO3)、および二ケイ酸ナトリウム(Na2Si2O5)が挙げられる。いくつかの実施形態では、ケイ酸ナトリウムは、ダイアトマイト・ベースのケイ酸ナトリウムである。いくつかの実施形態では、ケイ酸ナトリウムは、全体として、または一部だけ、少なくとも1つのケイ酸アンモニウムおよび/またはリチウム、ナトリウム、カリウム、ルビジウム、およびセシウムのケイ酸などの少なくとも1つのアルカリ金属のケイ酸塩の代わりに使用される。SiO2/Na2O比が約3.2:1であり、濃度が20%であるケイ酸ナトリウムを、例えば、World Minerals Inc.社から購入することができる。SiO2/Na2O比が約3:1であり、濃度が34.6%であるケイ酸ナトリウムを、例えば、PQ Corp.社から購入することができる。
本明細書で説明されている少なくとも1つの複合濾過補助剤を含む濾過補助材は、現在入手可能な吸着剤と同じ用途の多くで使用することができるが、例えば、高い透過性、低い遠心分離湿潤密度、および固有の形状の粒子(例えば、繊維)、さらには改善された効率、および/または経済性などの付加的特性をもたらしうる。
実施例
この例で生成されたダイアトマイト・ベースの複合濾過補助剤の有効性を示すために、材料をビールと接触させ、次いで熱エージングを行い、ビールを冷やして、残っている濁り前駆体を強制的に沈降させる必要がある。未濾過のラガー300mlを10分間、通常のダイアトマイト・ベースの濾過補助剤1.8gと接触させ、次いで、ブフナーを用いて濾過し、濾過補助剤を含むすべての懸濁物を取り除いた。この実験を繰り返して、通常のダイアトマイト・ベースの濾過補助剤(Celite 3Z(登録商標))を上で生成したダイアトマイト・ベースの複合濾過補助剤で徐々に置き換えた。それぞれの場合に生産されたビール試料をボトルに詰めて、40℃で5日間放置し、次いで、24時間0℃の冷蔵庫に入れておいてから、ネフェロ分析濁度計(Hach Company社(米国コロラド州所在)によって生産されているmodel 2100N)を使用して濁度を測定した。以下の表2は、ダイアトマイト濾過補助剤(Celite 3Z(登録商標))とダイアトマイト・ベースの複合濾過補助剤とのブレンドと接触させたビールの寒冷混濁データを示している。濁度はダイアトマイト・ベースの複合濾過補助剤の用量を増やすと減少し、用量が約3g/Lを超えてもほとんどメリットはないことがわかる。図2は、ダイアトマイト濾過補助剤(Celite 3Z(登録商標))とダイアトマイト・ベースの複合濾過補助剤とのブレンドと接触させたビールの寒冷混濁データを示している。
Claims (25)
- 複合濾過補助材料であって、
少なくとも1つの濾過構成要素および少なくとも1つの吸着構成要素を含み、
0.1ミクロンから0.5ミクロンまでの範囲内の平均細孔サイズ、および50から1000ミリダルシーまでの範囲内の透過率を有し、
前記少なくとも1つの濾過構成要素は、ダイアトマイト、天然ダイアトマイト、か焼ダイアトマイトまたはフラックスか焼ダイアトマイト、或いはパーライトであり、
前記少なくとも1つの吸着構成要素は、沈降シリカであることを特徴とする複合濾過補助材料。 - 複合濾過補助材料であって、

- 前記少なくとも1つの吸着構成要素は、前記複合濾過補助剤の15質量%から40質量%までの範囲内の量を含み、
前記少なくとも1つの濾過構成要素は、前記複合濾過補助剤の50質量%から85質量%までの範囲内の量を含む請求項1乃至21又は24のいずれか1項に記載の複合濾過補助材料。
