Description
即ち、本発明の燃料電池は、固体高分子電解質層、この固体高分子電解質層の両側に設けられた第1電極層及び第2電極層、並びにこれら電極層の更に外側に各々配置された第1導電層及び第2導電層を有する単位セルの複数と、何れかの単位セルと他の単位セルの導電層同士を電気的に接続する接続部と、それらの単位セル及び前記接続部をインサート成形により一体化した樹脂成形体と、を備えることを特徴とする。
(1)先の実施形態では、樹脂成形体中に2つの単位セルを含み、接続部が樹脂成形体の外部に突出しない燃料電池の例を示したが、本発明では、図3(a)〜(c)に示すように、樹脂の成形体中に3つ以上の単位セルを含むものでもよい。この実施形態では、第1金属層4と第2金属層5と接続部Jとが連続し、部分的に樹脂成形体の外部に突出する金属板を用いて、4つの単位セルC1〜C4を接続した例を示す。
また、片面に2つ以上の大きな開孔6aを設けることで、第1金属層4及び/又は第2金属層5の複数の露出部の半数又はそれ以下を露出させるようにしてもよい。つまり、本発明では1つの開孔6aから、2つ以上の露出部が露出するように成形してもよい。

Claims (4)
- 固体高分子電解質層、この固体高分子電解質層の両側に設けられた第1電極層及び第2電極層、並びにこれら電極層の更に外側に各々配置された第1導電層及び第2導電層を有する単位セルの複数と、
何れかの単位セルと他の単位セルの導電層同士を電気的に接続する接続部と、
それらの単位セル及び前記接続部をインサート成形により一体化した樹脂成形体と、を備え、
前記第1導電層は、前記第1電極層を部分的に露出させる露出部を有する第1金属層からなり、前記第2導電層は、前記第2電極層を部分的に露出させる露出部を有する第2金属層からなり、
前記樹脂成形体は、前記第1金属層又は第2金属層の露出部に対応する位置に設けられた開孔を有する燃料電池。 - 隣り合う前記単位セルの一方の第1導電層と、他方の第2導電層と、前記接続部とが、連続する金属板からなる金属層で形成されている請求項1に記載の燃料電池。
- 固体高分子電解質層、その両側に配される第1電極層及び第2電極層、並びにそれらの外側に配される第1導電層及び第2導電層を含む積層物の複数を、何れかの積層物と他の積層物の導電層同士を接続部により電気的に接続した状態で成形型内に配置する工程と、
その成形型内に樹脂を注入することで、前記積層物及び前記接続部を一体化する樹脂成形体を成形する工程とを含み、
前記第1導電層は、前記第1電極層を部分的に露出させる露出部を有する第1金属層からなり、前記第2導電層は、前記第2電極層を部分的に露出させる露出部を有する第2金属層からなり、
前記樹脂成形体は、前記第1金属層又は第2金属層の露出部に対応する位置に設けられた開孔を有する燃料電池の製造方法。 - 隣り合う前記積層物の一方の第1導電層と、他方の第2導電層と、前記接続部とが、連続する金属板からなる金属層で形成されている請求項3に記載の燃料電池の製造方法。
