Description
画像を表示する複数の画素によって構成されたアクティブエリアが非矩形状に形成された液晶表示装置であって、前記アクティブエリアにおいて同一色を表示する第1画素及び第2画素にそれぞれ配置されたカラーフィルタ層と、前記アクティブエリアの形状を規定するように配置されるとともに、前記アクティブエリアの周縁の前記第1画素の一部に重なる周辺遮光層と、を備え、前記第1画素の前記周辺遮光層に重ならない有効部に配置された前記カラーフィルタ層の膜厚を、前記第1画素の有効部より大きな面積を有する前記第2画素の有効部に配置された前記カラーフィルタ層の膜厚に対し、前記第1画素の有効部の面積と前記第2画素の有効部の面積の差に応じた明るさの差を補償するように設定したことを特徴とする液晶表示装置が提供される。

Claims (5)
- 画像を表示する複数の画素によって構成されたアクティブエリアが非矩形状に形成された液晶表示装置であって、
前記アクティブエリアにおいて同一色を表示する第1画素及び第2画素にそれぞれ配置されたカラーフィルタ層と、
前記アクティブエリアの形状を規定するように配置されるとともに、前記アクティブエリアの周縁の前記第1画素の一部に重なる周辺遮光層と、を備え、
前記第1画素の前記周辺遮光層に重ならない有効部に配置された前記カラーフィルタ層の膜厚を、前記第1画素の有効部より大きな面積を有する前記第2画素の有効部に配置された前記カラーフィルタ層の膜厚に対し、前記第1画素の有効部の面積と前記第2画素の有効部の面積の差に応じた明るさの差を補償するように設定したことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - アクティブエリアは、実質的に円形状又は楕円形状に形成されたことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 各画素にスイッチング素子を備えた第1基板と、
前記第1基板に対向するように配置された第2基板と、
前記第1基板と前記第2基板との間に保持された液晶層と、を備えた液晶表示パネルにおいて、
前記カラーフィルタ層は、前記第2基板の前記第1基板と対向する側に配置されたことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 各画素に配置されたスイッチング素子と、前記スイッチング素子に接続された画素電極と、を備えた第1基板と、
前記第1基板に対向するように配置された第2基板と、
前記第1基板と前記第2基板との間に保持された液晶層と、を備えた液晶表示パネルにおいて、
前記カラーフィルタ層は、前記第1基板の前記スイッチング素子と前記画素電極との間に配置されたことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - さらに、前記カラーフィルタの表面に配置された有機絶縁膜を備え、
前記第1画素の有効部に配置された前記有機絶縁膜の膜厚は、前記第2画素の有効部に配置された前記有機絶縁膜の膜厚より厚いことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
