Description
図2(b)は、Si粒子が等間隔で縦横に並んでおり、そのSi粒子は全て同径の球形であると仮定した場合のAl基軸受合金層の表面の模式図である。
油溜まり域の形成において好ましい。
粒径2μm以下のSi粒子の前記Al基軸受合金層の平坦面から突出している高さts1が、Si粒子の粒径の0.5倍以下であると、各Si粒子の半身を超える部分がそのAl合金中に埋め込まれた状態になるので、Si粒子がAl基軸受合金層から脱落し難くなる。
上記オーバレイ層表面形態を実現するには、表面処理工程後の軸受形成用板材の表面に中間層を形成させるための電気めっき及び中間層上にオーバレイを形成させるための電気めっきを行うが、オーバレイを形成させるための電気めっきは、中間層を形成させるための電気めっきの電流密度の1.2〜12倍程度で、且つ、通常の60〜90%の電流密度で行うことが望ましい。
一般に、電気めっきで形成される凸部と平坦面とは、滑らかに繋がっている。その場合は、平坦面から曲率をもって凸形状になり始める位置を、裾端とする。
オーバレイ層での平坦面の長さdxは、Al基軸受合金層での対応する平坦面の長さdaの1.1〜1.5倍であることが好ましい。
中間層の厚さを0.5μm以上にすることにより、中間層の強度を維持でき、接着効果を十分に発揮させることができる。また、中間層の厚さを5μm以下にすることにより、中間層の表面に、Al基軸受合金層の表面の凹凸に応じた凹凸を容易に形成させることができる。
本発明の実施例とした摺動部材、例えばすべり軸受の基本形態を、図4に示す。図4に示すすべり軸受4は、鋼から成る裏金層5上にAl−Zn−Si系のAl合金から成るAl基軸受合金層1が設けられ、このAl基軸受合金層1上にAgから成る中間層2を介してBi又はBi合金から成るオーバレイ層3が設けられた構造である。そして、本発明の効果を確認するために、表1に示す試料(実施例1〜11及び比較例1〜4)を製作し、焼付試験及びキャビテーション試験を行った。
このような実施例1〜11及び比較例1〜4に対して行った焼付試験の試験条件を表2に示し、その試験結果を表3に示す。
焼付試験の結果から、Al基軸受合金層の表面から突出するSi粒子の90%以上が粒径2μm以下の大きさで、且つ、隣合うこの粒径2μm以下のSi粒子同士が互いに重心間で平均6μm以下離れた状態の実施例1〜11は、比較例1〜4に比べて非焼付性に優れていた。実施例1〜4と比較例1〜4との対比から、Al基軸受合金層の平坦面から突出する前記Si粒子が、90%以上が粒径2μm以下の大きさで、且つ、隣合うこの粒径2μm以下のSi粒子同士が互いに重心間で平均6μm以下離れた状態で分布すると、非焼付性に優れることが理解される。実施例1,2と実施例3,4との対比から、Al基軸受合金層の表面から突出しているSi粒子の、当該Al基軸受合金層の表面からの突出部分の平面積の合計が当該Al基軸受合金層の表面積の2〜5%であると、非焼付性に特に優れることが理解される。
Biは酸化され易く、生じた酸化膜は剥がれ易い。図3(a)は、オーバレイ層3を形成した直後の状態を示すが、その後、エンジンに組付けられて実際に使用されると、高温に晒され、図3(b)に示すように表面に酸化膜(酸化ビスマスの膜)3が生成する。この酸化膜3aは、凸部では、図3(c)に示すように相手材との摩耗によって剥がされ、凸部間の凹部(油溜まり域)では、変動荷重等によるオーバレイ層3の変形等によって自然に剥がれ落ちて、図3(d)に示すように凸部が当初の高さts3に戻る。この酸化膜の脱落により、凸部間には以前とほとんど変わらない深さの凹部(油溜まり域)が再生されることとなる。
Claims (8)
- Siを必須成分とするAl基軸受合金層上に中間層を介してオーバレイ層を被着した摺動部材において、
前記Al基軸受合金層は、そのAl合金中のSi粒子が前記Al基軸受合金層の平坦面から突出した状態で分布することにより凹凸状になった凹凸状表面を有し、
前記Al基軸受合金層の平坦面から突出する前記Si粒子は、90%以上が粒径2μm以下の大きさで、且つ、隣合うこの粒径2μm以下のSi粒子同士が互いに重心間で平均6μm以下離れた状態で分布し、
前記Al基軸受合金層上に前記中間層を介して被着された前記オーバレイ層は、その表面が、前記Al基軸受合金層の表面の凹凸に応じた凹凸状を成していることを特徴とする摺動部材。 - 隣合う前記粒径2μm以下のSi粒子同士の重心間の距離は、当該粒径2μm以下のSi粒子の平均粒径の2〜5倍で、
前記オーバレイ層の平坦面から突出している凸部の高さは、前記粒径2μm以下のSi粒子が前記Al基軸受合金層の平坦面から突出している高さの0.6〜1倍であることを特徴とする請求項1記載の摺動部材。 - 前記粒径2μm以下のSi粒子が前記Al基軸受合金層の平坦面から突出している平均高さは、0.1〜1.0μmであり、
前記オーバレイ層の平坦面から突出している平均高さは、0.08〜1.0μmであることを特徴とする請求項1又は2記載の摺動部材。 - 前記オーバレイ層での平坦面の長さは、前記Al基軸受合金層での対応する平坦面の長さよりも長いことを特徴とする請求項1から3のいずれかに記載の摺動部材。
- 前記Al基軸受合金層の平坦面から突出しているSi粒子の、当該Al基軸受合金層の平坦面からの突出部分の平面積の合計は、当該Al基軸受合金層の平面積の2〜10%であることを特徴とする請求項1から4のいずれかに記載の摺動部材。
- 前記中間層の厚さは0.5〜5μmで、
前記オーバレイ層の厚さは2〜10μmであることを特徴とする請求項1から5のいずれかに記載の摺動部材。 - 前記Al基軸受合金層は、1〜10質量%のZnと、3〜8質量%のSiと、不可避的不純物を除く残部のAlとから成り、
前記中間層は、Ag、Ag合金、Cu、Cu合金のいずれかであり、
前記オーバレイ層は、Bi又はBi合金であることを特徴とする請求項1から6のいずれかに記載の摺動部材。 - 前記Al基軸受合金層は、1〜10質量%のZnと、3〜8質量%のSiと、0.1〜5質量%のCuと、0.05〜3質量%のMgと、不可避的不純物を除く残部のAlとから成り、
前記中間層は、Ag、Ag合金、Cu、Cu合金のいずれかであり、
前記オーバレイ層は、Bi又はBi合金であることを特徴とする請求項1から6のいずれかに記載の摺動部材。
