Description
請求項1に記載の発明では、排気浄化触媒の熱劣化進行度合いを所定時間毎に積算することにより同排気浄化触媒の熱劣化度を算出する熱劣化度算出手段と、前記熱劣化度算出手段による前記熱劣化度に基づき前記排気浄化触媒の熱劣化状態を判定する判定手段とを備える排気浄化触媒の熱劣化状態検出装置であって、前記熱劣化度算出手段は、前記熱劣化度の算出に際し、熱劣化進行度合いの前回までの積算値とそのときの排気浄化触媒の温度とに基づき前記所定時間での熱劣化進行度合いを算出し、これを前記前回までの積算値に加算するものであるとする。
触媒温度Tを一定とした場合、熱劣化進行度合いdKは一定ではなく、熱劣化度Kに応じて変化してゆくことが図4から判る。どの触媒温度T(T1〜T4)についても、熱劣化進行度合いdKは熱劣化度Kが小さいときには大きく、熱劣化度Kが大きくなるに従い小さくなる。表現を変えると、熱劣化はNOx触媒42A,43Aが熱に晒され始めたとき、あるいはその直後には速い速度で進行する。しかし、NOx触媒42A,43Aが長期にわたって熱に晒されると、熱劣化の進行の速度は遅くなってくる。これは、背景技術でも説明したように、NOx触媒42A,43Aの排気浄化性能に関与する貴金属触媒の表面積が、熱に晒される時間に応じて減少するとともに、その減少度合いが熱に晒された時間が短いときには大きいが、同時間が長くなるに従い小さくなることによる。そして、表面積は最終的には一定の値に収束する。特性線L4,L3に示すように、触媒温度Tが値T4,T3のときには、熱劣化度Kは比較的短い時間で上記一定の値に収束する。触媒温度Tが値T2,T1のときには、長い時間がかかるものの熱劣化度Kは上記一定の値に収束する。
(1)熱劣化進行度合いdKは触媒温度Tに加え熱劣化度Kに応じて異なる。この点、本実施形態では熱劣化進行度合いdKの積算に際し、熱劣化進行度合いdKの前回までの積算値、すなわち前回算出された熱劣化度Kと、そのときの触媒温度Tとに基づき、上記所定時間での熱劣化進行度合いdKを算出する。そして、この熱劣化進行度合いdKを前回までの積算値(前回算出された熱劣化度K)に加算することにより、NOx触媒42A,43Aの今回までの熱劣化度Kを算出するようにしている。従って、触媒温度Tのみに基づいて算出した熱劣化進行度合いdKを積算する背景技術に比べ、熱劣化進行度合いdKとして実際の変化態様に即した値を積算することで、NOx触媒42A,43Aの熱劣化度Kをより正確に把握し、熱劣化異常の検出精度を高めることができる。
・上記実施形態において、熱劣化度Kと所定の値との比較により、熱劣化状態が正常であるかどうかの判定を行うようにしてもよい。例えば、熱劣化度Kが上記異常判定値Sよりも小さい場合に正常である旨判定したり、同異常判定値Sよりも小さな正常判定値を設定し、熱劣化度Kがこの正常判定値よりも小さい場合に正常である旨判定したりしてもよい。
Claims (5)
- 排気浄化触媒の熱劣化進行度合いを所定時間毎に積算することにより同排気浄化触媒の熱劣化度を算出する熱劣化度算出手段と、
前記熱劣化度算出手段による前記熱劣化度に基づき前記排気浄化触媒の熱劣化状態を判定する判定手段と
を備える排気浄化触媒の熱劣化状態検出装置であって、
前記熱劣化度算出手段は、前記熱劣化度の算出に際し、熱劣化進行度合いの前回までの積算値とそのときの排気浄化触媒の温度とに基づき前記所定時間での熱劣化進行度合いを算出し、これを前記前回までの積算値に加算することを特徴とする排気浄化触媒の熱劣化状態検出装置。 - 前記熱劣化度算出手段は、前記所定時間での前記熱劣化進行度合いとして、前記排気浄化触媒の温度が高くなるに従い大きな値を算出する請求項1に記載の排気浄化触媒の熱劣化状態検出装置。
- 前記熱劣化度算出手段は、前記所定時間での前記熱劣化進行度合いとして、前記前回までの積算値が大きくなるに従い小さな値を算出する請求項1又は2に記載の排気浄化触媒の熱劣化状態検出装置。
- 熱劣化度及び排気浄化触媒の温度に対する熱劣化進行度合いを予め記憶した記憶手段をさらに備え、
前記熱劣化度算出手段は、熱劣化進行度合いの前回までの積算値とそのときの排気浄化触媒の温度とに対応する熱劣化進行度合いを前記記憶手段から読み出し、これを前記所定時間での前記熱劣化進行度合いとして前記前回までの積算値に加算する請求項1〜3のいずれか1つに記載の排気浄化触媒の熱劣化状態検出装置。 - 前記判定手段は、前記熱劣化度算出手段による前記熱劣化度が所定値よりも大きい場合に前記排気浄化触媒が熱劣化異常である旨判定する請求項1〜4のいずれか1つに記載の排気浄化触媒の熱劣化状態検出装置。
