Description
また、図3のような50Hz基準のサブフィールドパターンは、映像の明るさによって画質低下要因を違うようにする原因で作用する。例えば、図3のような50Hz基準のサブフィールドパターンでPDP上に映像を表示すれば、映像の明るさが低い場合に表示映像が輪郭ノイズによって画質が落ちる一方、映像の明るさが相対的に高い場合に表示映像がフリッカーによって画質が落ちるようになる。これは図4のように映像の明るさすなわち、平均画像レベル(Avarage Picture Level、以下、 “APL”とする)にかかわらず、二つのサブフィールドグループ(SFG1、SFG2)それぞれの開始位置が等しいからである。 図4で、スタートフラグ(Fst)は、フレーム期間の開始時点に同期される第1サブフィールドグループ(SFG1)の開始位置を指示するための信号で、ミドフラグ(Fmid)は、おおよそフレーム期間の1/2時点に設定される第2サブフィールドグループ(SFG2)の開始時点である。一方、APLが高い時(H)サステインパルスの個数が多く割り当てされて、APLが低い時(H)サステインパルスの個数が相対的に小さく割り当てされるから、図4で分かるように、 APLによってサブフィールドグループ(SFG1、SFG2)それぞれの有效長さが変わる問題点がある。
Claims (16)
- 複数のサブフィールドを含む複数のフレームで映像を具現するプラズマディスプレイパネルの駆動方法において、
複数の前記フレームは第1フレームと第2フレームとを含み、
前記第2フレームに割り当てされるサステインパルスの総個数は前記第1フレームに割り当てされるサステインパルスの総個数より少なく、
前記第1フレームと前記第2フレームは、それぞれ、少なくとも一つのサブフィールドを含む第1サブフィールド群と第2サブフィールド群を含み、
前記第1フレームの前記第1サブフィールド群の開始時点と前記第2サブフィールド群の開始時点との間の時間差は、前記第2フレームの前記第1サブフィールド群の開始時点と前記第2サブフィールド群との間の時間差のより小さいことを特徴とするプラズマディスプレイパネルの駆動方法。 - 前記第1フレームでの前記第2サブフィールド群の開始時点は、前記第2フレームでの前記第2サブフィールド群の開始時点より時間上早い、請求項1記載のプラズマディスプレイパネルの駆動方法。
- 前記第2フレームの総長さをLとする場合、前記第2フレームでの前記第2サブフィールド群の開始時点は、L/2の地点以降である、請求項1記載のプラズマディスプレイパネルの駆動方法。
- 前記第1サブフィールド群および前記第2サブフィールド群の内の少なくとも一つは、複数のサブフィールドの加重値が増加する方向に配置される、請求項1記載のプラズマディスプレイパネルの駆動方法。
- 前記第1サブフィールド群および前記第2サブフィールド群の内の少なくとも一つは、複数のサブフィールドの加重値が減少する方向に配置される、請求項1記載のプラズマディスプレイパネルの駆動方法。
- 前記第1フレームでの前記第1サブフィールド群の終了時点と前記第2サブフィールド群の開始時点との間の時間差は、前記第2フレームの前記第1サブフィールド群の終了時点と前記第2サブフィールド群の開始時点との間の時間差より小さい、請求項1記載のプラズマディスプレイパネルの駆動方法。
- 前記第1フレームの前記第1サブフィールド群の開始時点は、前記第2フレームの前記第1サブフィールド群の開始時点と同一である、請求項1記載のプラズマディスプレイパネルの駆動方法。
- 前記第1フレームの前記第2サブフィールド群の終了時点は、前記第2フレームの前記第2サブフィールド群の終了時点と同一である、請求項1記載のプラズマディスプレイパネルの駆動方法。
- 複数のサブフィールドを含む複数のフレームで映像を具現するプラズマディスプレイパネルと、駆動装置とを含み、
複数の前記フレームは第1フレームと第2フレームとを含み、
前記第2フレームに割り当てされるサステインパルスの総個数は、前記第1フレームに割り当てされるサステインパルスの総個数より少なく、
前記第1フレームと前記第2フレームは、それぞれ、少なくとも一つのサブフィールドを含む第1サブフィールド群と第2サブフィールド群とを含み、
前記駆動装置は、
前記第1フレームの前記第1サブフィールド群の開始時点と前記第2サブフィールド群の開始時点との間の時間差を、前記第2フレームの前記第1サブフィールド群の開始時点と前記第2サブフィールド群との間の時間差より小さくすることを特徴とするプラズマディスプレイ装置。 - 前記第1フレームでの前記第2サブフィールド群の開始時点は、前記第2フレームでの前記第2サブフィールド群の開始時点より時間上早い、請求項9記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置。
- 前記第2フレームの総長さをLとする場合、前記第2フレームでの前記第2サブフィールド群の開始時点は、L/2の地点以降である、請求項9記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置。
- 前記第1サブフィールド群および前記第2サブフィールド群の内の少なくとも一つは、複数のサブフィールドの加重値が増加する方向に配置される、請求項9記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置。

- 前記駆動装置は、
前記第1フレームの前記第1サブフィールド群の終了時点と前記第2サブフィールド群の開始時点との間の時間差を、前記第2フレームの前記第1サブフィールド群の終了時点と前記第2サブフィールド群の開始時点との間の時間差より小さくする、請求項9記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置。 - 前記駆動装置は、
