Claims (5)
- 光源と、前記光源から出射された光を導いて光出射面から照明対象物に向け出射するための導光部材と、前記導光部材の少なくとも底面を覆う反射部材と、前記導光部材の前記光出射面上に配置される光補正部材と、前記光源と前記反射部材で覆われた前記導光部材と前記光補正部材とを保持する筐体とを備えた照明ユニットであって、前記筐体は、前記光補正部材の光出射領域に対応する領域に開口部を有し、前記開口部内の前記光補正部材の上面に前記照明対象物が直接接触して配置される照明ユニットと、
一対の透明基板の間に液晶層が挟持されて構成される液晶セルを有し前記照明ユニットの光出射面側に配置される前記照明対象物たる液晶パネルと、を備え、
前記液晶パネルが、前記筐体の前記開口部内の前記光補正部材の表面に直接接触して配置され、
前記液晶パネルは前記液晶セルを挟持する一対の偏光板を含み、前記一対の偏光板のうちの照明ユニット側の偏光板は、前記筐体の前記開口部の外径よりも小さい外径を有し前記開口部内の前記光補正部材の表面と直接接触し、
前記筐体は、前記開口部を囲むように該開口部側に突出する枠状の縁部を有し、前記縁部の上面に前記液晶セルが配置され、
前記筐体は導電性の材料から構成され、前記筐体の前記縁部の厚みが前記照明ユニット側の前記偏光板の厚みと実質的に同じである液晶表示装置。 - 前記照明ユニットにおいて、前記導光部材と前記光補正部材との間に形成される空間の間隔は、前記液晶セルを構成する画素の寸法以下である請求項1項記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記空間の間隔は、0 . 4mm以下である請求項2記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記筐体は、外部と該筐体内部とを連通させる貫通孔を有する請求項2記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記導光部材が導光板であり、前記導光板の第1の端面に沿って前記光源が配置されるとともに、前記反射部材が反射シートであり、前記導光板の底面と、前記光源を含めて前記導光板の前記第1の端面と、前記光源が配置されていない前記導光板の第2の端面とが前記反射シートで覆われ、前記光補正部材が1又は複数枚の光補正シートから構成され、
前記筐体は、枠型形状を有し、かつ、少なくとも前記反射シートで覆われた前記導光板の前記底面、前記第2の端面、及び、前記光源を含めた前記第1の端面を支持する請求項1記載の液晶表示装置。
