であることが好ましい。
まず言えることは、前述したとおり、リチウムイオン二次電池においては、負極集電体21は正極集電体11より薄い金属箔を用いているため、負極側のほうが正極側と比べて集電体を曲げやすく、それだけ接続部41を近付けやすいということがある。
また、図2において、正極中継部2b側での負極材料塗布端22aは、負極材料が塗布された負極集電体21を、塗布膜の上から切断するので、切り口がはっきりしている。一方、負極リード4側においては、ドクターブレード法などで負極合剤を負極集電体21の上に塗布するとき、負極合剤の流れをシャッターで止めることによって塗布端を形成しているので、負極材料塗布部22の端部では、厚さは鋭い段差とはならず、一般に0.5〜2mm程度の裾野を引いたテーパ状の塗布膜の終端となる。そのため、図3において、正極10の端部からはみ出した部分である0.5〜2mm程度の部分は、負極20の厚みが薄くなりがちである。図2における正極リード3側では、負極20の端部は規定厚さの負極材料膜が終端まで形成されており曲がりにくいが、図3における正極10からはみ出した領域では、上述した理由により、負極材料塗布部22は、正極リード3側での負極20の端部と比べて曲がりやすい。
さらに、図2に示すように、正極リード3側では、負極20の端部において、各負極20間にセパレータ30と正極集電体11の非塗布部13が介在しているのに対して、図3に示すように、負極リード4側では、負極材料塗布部22が正極10からはみ出した領域においては、各負極20間にセパレータ30以外に部材は介在していない。セパレータ30は、薄い樹脂膜であり曲がりやすい。そのため、負極リード4側では正極10の端部で段差が大きく、曲がりやすい。
正極および負極のリードは、その材質として、Al、Cu、Ni、Ti、Fe、燐青銅、真鍮、ステンレス、NiメッキしたCu、NiメッキしたAlなどを用いることができ、必要に応じて焼き鈍し処理を施してもよい。リードの厚さは、0.08〜1.0mmが好ましい。
外装材としては、電解液が漏洩しないように電池要素を覆うことが可能であって柔軟性を有するものであれば特に限定されるものではないが、金属層と熱融着性樹脂層とを積層したラミネートフィルムが特に好ましく用いられる。この種のラミネートフィルムとしては、例えば、厚さ10μm〜100μmの金属箔に厚さ3μm〜200μmの熱融着性樹脂を貼りつけたものが使用できる。金属箔の材質としては、Al、Ti、Ti系合金、Fe、ステンレス、Mg系合金などが使用できる。熱融着性樹脂としては、ポリプロピレン、ポリエチレン、これらの酸変成物、ポリフェニレンサルファイド、ポリエチレンテレフタレートなどのポリエステル等、ポリアミド、エチレン−酢酸ビニル共重合体などが使用できる。
正極は、放電時に正イオンを吸収するもの又は負イオンを放出するものであれば特に限定されず、(i)LiMnO2、LiMn2O4、LiCoO2、LiNiO2等や、スピネル構造を持つマンガン酸リチウムなどの金属酸化物、(ii)ポリアセチレン、ポリアニリン等の導電性高分子、(iii)一般式(R−Sm)n(Rは脂肪族または芳香族、Sは硫黄であり、m、nは、m≧1、n≧1の整数である)で示されるジスルフィド化合物(ジチオグリコール、2、5−ジメルカプト−1、3、4−チアジアゾール、S−トリアジン−2、4、6−トリチオール等)等の二次電池の正極材料として従来公知のものが使用できる。また、正極に正極活物質(図示せず)を適当な結着剤や機能性材料と混合して形成することもできる。これらの結着剤としては、ポリフッ化ビニリデン等のハロゲン含有高分子等が、機能性材料としては、電子伝導性を確保するためのアセチレンブラック、ポリピロール、ポリアニリン等の導電性高分子、イオン伝導性を確保するための高分子電解質、それらの複合体等が挙げられる。

Claims (5)
- 正極材料が両面に塗布され且つ前記正極材料の非塗布部分が1辺から延出した正極集電体からなる複数の正極と、負極材料が前記正極材料よりも大面積で両面に塗布され且つ前記負極材料の非塗布部分が1辺から延出した負極集電体からなる複数の負極とを、薄い樹脂膜からなるセパレータを介して交互に積層した電池要素を有し、前記正極材料の非塗布部分の先端部を重ねて正極リードに接続するとともに、前記負極材料の非塗布部分の先端部を重ねて負極リードに接続した積層型電池において、
前記先端部が前記正極リードに重ねて接続された前記正極材料の非塗布部分間には、前記負極および前記セパレータが介在し、
前記先端部が前記負極リードに重ねて接続された前記負極材料の非塗布部分間には、前記セパレータのみが介在し、
前記正極の、前記正極リードとの接続部側での前記正極材料の塗布部の端から前記正極リードとの接続部までの間隔をb、前記負極リードとの接続部側での前記正極の端から前記負極リードとの接続部までの間隔をcとしたとき、

であることを特徴とする積層型電池。 - 少なくとも前記正極材料の非塗布部分間に介在している前記正極リード側の前記負極の負極材料塗布端は、塗布膜の上から切断されてなる切り口を有し、
少なくとも前記負極リード側の前記負極の負極材料塗布端は、塗布時に負極合剤の流れを止めることによって形成されてなるものである請求項1に記載の積層型電池。 - 前記正極リードとの接続部側での、前記負極の端から前記正極と前記正極リードとの接続部までの間隔をpとしたとき、

である、請求項1に記載の積層型電池。 - 前記正極および前記負極は、前記正極材料の非塗布部と前記負極材料の非塗布部とが互いに対向する辺から延出するように積層されている請求項1ないし3のいずれか1項に記載の積層型電池。
- 前記電池要素は、フィルムからなり前記電池要素を収納する収納室を形成するためのカップ部が形成された外装材の内部に減圧封止され、かつ、前記カップ部内で前記正極集電体の前記正極材料が塗布された領域を前記負極リード側に偏らせて配置されている請求項4に記載の積層型電池。
