Abstract

This invention relates to hats, caps, and other headwear, and in particular to hats with depth adjustment capabilities.

A good fit is important for wearing a hat comfortably. Hats that do not fit properly are at a higher risk of falling off due to vigorous movement or wind, and they also look unbalanced.
Conventionally, hats with an adjustable head circumference size have been widely used to improve the fit. However, even if the head circumference size is correct, the depth of the hat may not match the shape and size of the head, resulting in an insufficient fit. For example, the hat may not be deep enough and float off the head, or it may be worn too deep and block the view.
Also, the depth of the hat you want to wear may vary depending on the conditions in which you will be using it, such as when it is humid or windy.

In response to this, hats with depth adjustment functions are known in the prior art, such as a hat in which the fabric of the crown (the part worn on the head) is folded up and down near the bottom edge (see Patent Document 1).
In this type of hat, the crown is at its deepest when the crown fabric is not folded, and when the fabric is folded up and down, the crown becomes shallower depending on the width and thickness of the fold. In other words, the depth of the hat can be adjusted by how the crown fabric is folded.

However, such conventional hats with depth adjustment function have a problem that the depth adjustment range is small because the depth is adjusted by folding the fabric of the crown. As a result, the depth adjustment is insufficient and the user may not be able to obtain a good fit. In order to increase the depth adjustment range, it is possible to increase the width or thickness of the fold, but with this measure, the folded part is likely to be noticeable on the exterior of the hat, and the appearance after the depth adjustment is likely to be unsightly.
The present invention has been made in consideration of the current situation, and aims to provide a hat that increases the freedom of depth adjustment, makes it easier to obtain a good fit, and has a balanced and neat appearance after the depth is adjusted.

According to the hat of the first invention, when the other end of the depth adjustment band is pulled, the depth adjustment band is pulled out of the sleeve and the crown fabric is tightened in the vertical direction. This allows the depth of the crown to be made shallower. On the other hand, when one end of the depth adjustment band is pulled, the depth adjustment band is pulled back into the sleeve and the crown fabric is returned to its original tightening state. This allows the crown depth to be restored. In this way, the depth of the crown can be freely adjusted by adjusting the pulling length of the depth adjustment band and fastening the other end side to the inside of the crown.
In addition, in the hat of the first invention, the depth is adjusted by squeezing the fabric of the crown, so the natural unevenness of the fabric caused by squeezing is visible on the exterior of the hat after the depth is adjusted. The overlapping parts of the fabric are not noticeable on the exterior of the hat, and the natural texture is maintained. This gives the hat a well-balanced and neat appearance after the depth is adjusted, achieving both functionality and good looks.

In the first invention, it is preferable to use a hook-and-loop fastener as the fastening means for fastening the other end of the depth adjustment band to a predetermined position inside the crown.
The hook-and-loop fastener allows the attachment position to be freely changed inside the crown, increasing the freedom of depth adjustment.
Other fastening means such as strings, buttons, and magnets can also be used.

The hat according to the second invention has the configuration of the first invention,

According to the configuration of the second invention, the depth of the crown can be adjusted with the depth adjustment band, while the head circumference size of the crown can be adjusted with the head circumference adjustment band. Also, the head circumference adjustment band can be hidden and stored between the two pieces of fabric on the front and back of the lining, so it does not interfere with the design of the hat.

When wearing a hat, a face cover may be used in combination to protect against sunburn. This type of face cover, for example, has an upper cloth that covers the user's face from the nose to the mouth, and a lower cloth that is on the inside of the upper cloth and covers the user's mouth to the neck. There are generally openings between the upper cloth and the lower cloth for opening the mouth and nose.
However, such conventional face covers may slip down during use. In addition, the lower cloth overlaps the upper cloth, which tends to reduce the breathability of the opening between the upper cloth and the lower cloth. Furthermore, when trying to bring food or drink to the mouth through the opening during a meal, the upper cloth tends to get in the way.

The hat according to the third invention has the configuration of the first invention,

According to the hat of the third invention, by connecting the face cover to the lower end of the crown, it is possible to prevent the face cover from slipping down when in use. Even when the hat is not in use, there is less risk of losing only one of the hats if the hat and face cover are connected.
In addition, in the configuration of the third invention, the lower end of the upper cloth is kept in a brim shape by the wire, so that the upper cloth can be held at a moderate distance from the lower cloth. This improves the breathability of the opening between the upper cloth and the lower cloth, and eliminates the feeling of breathlessness that is easily felt when using a face cover. Also, by lifting the wire, the opening between the upper cloth and the lower cloth can be easily expanded, making it easier to bring food and drink to the mouth when eating.

The following describes an embodiment of the present invention with reference to the drawings. Note that the embodiment described below is an example of how the present invention is applied, and the scope of the invention is not limited to these embodiments.

1 shows a hat 1 according to an embodiment of the present invention. This embodiment is a hat-type cloth hat 1 that has a depth adjustment function and a head circumference adjustment function.
As shown in Fig. 1, hat 1 comprises crown 2 and brim 3 (the portion extending from the bottom of crown 2 to the surrounding area). A chin strap 5 can be attached to the lower end of crown 2. Snap buttons 6a, 6b are attached to the side of crown 2 and the upper surface of brim 3. By fastening snap buttons 6a, 6b, both sides of brim 3 flip up, changing the shape of hat 1 to a western style with a wider field of vision.

The depth-adjusting band 12 and the hook-and-loop fastener 13 are attached with a hook-and-loop fastener 13 as fastening means. The other end 12b of the depth-adjusting band 12 is fastened to the inside of the tubular bag 10 in a detachable manner by the hook-and-loop fastener 13.

The hook and loop fastener 13 has a loop surface 13a and a hook surface 13b, and both surfaces are detachably attached to each other. The hook surface 13b is attached to the other end 12b of the depth adjustment band 12 (see FIG. 2(B)), and the strip-shaped loop surface 13a is attached on an extension line from the tube bag 10 inside the crown 2 (see FIG. 2(A)). This allows the other end 12b of the depth adjustment band 12 to be fastened at any position on the extension line of the tube bag 10.
In this embodiment, the loop surface 13a, which has a softer surface texture than the hook surface 13b, is attached so as to face the inside of the crown 2. In other words, the hook surface 13b, which has a harder surface texture, is disposed so as to face the outside (upward) of the crown 2. Therefore, when the hat 1 is worn, the hook surface 13b will not get tangled in the user's hair.

Inside the crown 2, a sweat-stopping slider (vinyl leather) 7 is provided along the inner circumference of the lower end (see Figure 1). As shown in Figure 3, a head circumference adjustment band 15 is passed around the lower end of the crown 2 between the two pieces of fabric on the front and back of the slider 7. Note that Figure 3 shows the slider 7 spread out toward the bottom of the hat; when the slider 7 is returned to the top (inside the crown 2), the head circumference adjustment band 15 is hidden behind the slider 7.

A hook-and-loop fastener 16 is provided near the outlet of the head circumference adjustment band 15 of the slider 7. As shown in Fig. 4, the hook-and-loop fastener 16 is formed by detachably attaching a loop surface 16a and a hook surface 16b together.
A loop surface 16a is sewn along the inner circumference of the slider 7. A hook surface 16b is sewn to the tip surface of the head circumference adjustment band 15 so as to overlap the loop surface 16a. The end of the head circumference adjustment band 15 opposite the hook surface 16b is sewn to a predetermined position at the bottom end of the crown 2. The head circumference size can be adjusted by attaching the hook surface 16b to any position on the loop surface 16a.

When adjusting the depth of the hat 1, pulling the other end 12b of the depth adjustment band 12 pulls the depth adjustment band 12 out of the sleeve 10 and squeezes the fabric of the crown 2 in the vertical direction (see FIG. 5(B)). At the same time, the sleeve 10 is also squeezed vertically and its length is shortened (see FIG. 2(B)). This allows the depth of the crown 2 to be made shallower.
On the other hand, when one end 12a of the depth-adjusting band 12 is pulled, the depth-adjusting band 12 is pulled back into the sleeve 10, and the fabric of the crown 2 is returned to its original state (see FIG. 5(A)). At the same time, the sleeve 10 is no longer squeezed, and its length returns to its original state (see FIG. 2(A)). This allows the depth of the crown 2 to be returned to its original state. Once the depth of the crown 2 has been adjusted to an appropriate level, the other end 12b of the depth-adjusting band 12 is fastened to the inside of the crown 2 by the hook-and-loop fastener 16.

In this way, with the hat 1, the depth of the crown 2 can be freely adjusted by adjusting the pulling length of the depth-adjusting band 12 and fastening the other end 12b inside the crown 2. When operating the depth-adjusting band 12, the depth of the hat 1 can also be adjusted by pulling only one of the left and right bands. For example, by tightening only one side of the crown 2 to make it shallower, the hat 2 can be tilted to make it easier to wear.
Furthermore, according to the hat 1, the depth is adjusted by squeezing the fabric of the crown 2, so that the natural unevenness of the fabric due to squeezing appears on the appearance of the hat 1 after the depth adjustment. The overlapping parts of the fabric are not noticeable on the appearance of the hat 1, and a natural texture can be maintained. As a result, the appearance after the depth adjustment is well-balanced and neat, and functionality and appearance can be achieved at the same time.

Furthermore, with the hat 1, the depth of the crown 2 can be adjusted with the depth adjustment band 12, while the head circumference size of the crown 2 can be adjusted with the head circumference adjustment band 15. This further improves the fit of the hat 1. In addition, the head circumference adjustment band 15 can be hidden and stored between the two pieces of fabric on the front and back of the lining 7, so that the head circumference adjustment band 15 does not interfere with the design of the hat 1.

FIG. 6 illustrates a face cover 20 that can be used in conjunction with the hat 1.
The hat 1 is configured so that the face cover 20 can be connected to the lower end of the crown 2. A tab Th (see FIG. 1) extending toward the back of the head of the crown 2 and a tab Tf on the back of the head of the face cover 20 are connected by snap buttons. When the face cover 20 is not required, the snap buttons are removed and only the hat 1 is used. When the face cover 20 is required, such as when the sun is strong, the snap buttons are fastened and the hat 1 and face cover 20 are used as a set.

6 and 7, the face cover 20 includes an upper cloth 21 and a lower cloth 22. The upper cloth 21 covers the area of the user's face from the nose to the mouth, and the lower cloth 22 covers the area from the mouth to the neck of the user inside the upper cloth 21. Between the upper cloth 21 and the lower cloth 22, there are openings for exposing the mouth and nose.
A rear cloth 23 for covering the back of the head is sewn to the rear of the upper cloth 21 and the lower cloth 22. The upper cloth 21, the lower cloth 22 and the rear cloth 23 are integrated to form the face cover 20 in a mask shape. The rear cloth 23 is provided with a strap S for adjusting the size of the face cover 20.

A wire 24 is attached to the upper cloth 21 along its lower end. The wire 24 extends in an arch shape so that it juts out slightly downward near the user's mouth. By extending in this arch shape, the lower end of the upper cloth 21 is kept in a brim shape.

When using the hat 1 and the face cover 20 together, the face cover 20 can be prevented from slipping down by connecting the face cover 20 to the lower end of the crown 2 (see FIG. 7(A)). Even when the hat 1 is not in use, connecting the hat 1 and the face cover 20 reduces the risk of losing only one of them.
Furthermore, according to the face cover 20, the lower end of the upper cloth 21 is maintained in a brim shape by the wire 24, so that the upper cloth 21 can be held at an appropriate distance from the lower cloth 22.
As a result, the opening between the upper cloth 21 and the lower cloth 22 has good breathability, and the sense of breathlessness that is easily felt when using the face cover 20 can be eliminated.
Furthermore, by lifting the wire 24, the opening between the upper cloth 21 and the lower cloth 22 can be easily widened, making it easier to bring food to the mouth when eating (see FIG. 7(B)).

Although the embodiment of the present invention has been described above, the embodiment of the present invention is not limited to this and may involve various modifications.
In the above embodiment, the present invention is applied to a hat-type hat 1, but the present invention can also be applied to a cap-type hat or the like.
In the above embodiment, two depth adjustment bands 12 are provided on the left and right sides of the crown 2, but the attachment positions and number of bands are not limited. The depth adjustment bands 12 may be provided at the front or rear of the crown 2, or at other positions. Also, the number of depth adjustment bands 12 does not necessarily have to be two, and may be only one, or may be three or more.
