本発明の一態様による画像処理装置は以下の構成を備える。すなわち、画像処理装置は、3次元の画像の所定の断面を含み、前記断面に交差する軸方向に沿った厚さをスラブ厚として有するスラブ内において、前記画像の前記軸方向の画素値を前記断面に投影したスラブ画像を生成する制御手段を有する画像処理装置であって、前記制御手段は、前記スラブ画像の画素の画素値を、前記画素に対応する前記スラブ内の前記軸方向の画素の画素値の最大値と最小値との合成によって求める。
