Abstract
Description
第1配向膜組成物の製造
20mlのバイアル(vial)に溶媒(シクロヘキサノン)9.675gと光配向性物質(5−ノルボルネン−2−メチル−4−メトキシシンナメート)0.325gおよびナノ粒子(PMMA、SEKISUI社、平均粒径:370nm)0.01gを添加した後、混合した。
20mlのバイアルに溶媒(シクロヘキサノン)9.675gと光配向性物質(5−ノルボルネン−2−メチル−4−メトキシシンナメート)0.065gおよびボールスペーサー(KBN−510、SEKISUI社、平均粒径:10μm)0.1gを添加した後、混合した。
20mlのバイアルに溶媒(シクロヘキサノン)9.675gと光配向性物質(5−ノルボルネン−2−メチル−4−メトキシシンナメート)0.325gを添加した後、混合した。
第1電極フィルム(PC/ITOフィルム、横x縦=100mmx100mm)のITO層上にナノ粒子組成物を4番メイヤーバーを利用して約300nmの厚さでコーティングした。前記コーティングされた組成物を約80℃で約2分間乾燥させた。前記乾燥させた組成物を200mW/cm2の強さの偏光紫外線を10秒間垂直に(0度)照射して硬化させて第1配向膜を形成した。前記第1配向膜上に前記ボールスペーサー組成物を10番メイヤーバーを利用して約60nmの厚さでコーティングした。前記コーティングされた組成物を約100℃で約2分間乾燥させた。前記乾燥させた組成物に約200mW/cm2の強さの偏光紫外線を10秒間垂直に(0度)照射して、第1配向膜にボールスペーサーを固着させて第1基板部材を製作した。
第2電極フィルム(PC/ITOフィルム、横x縦=100mmx100mm)のITO層上に第2配向膜組成物を4番メイヤーバーを利用して約300nmの厚さでコーティングした。前記コーティングした組成物を約80℃で約2分間乾燥させた。前記乾燥した組成物に約70度の傾斜角度で約200mW/cm2の強さの偏光紫外線を約10秒間照射して第2基板部材を製作した。
第1基板部材の第1配向膜上に液晶およびアゾ系染料を含む液晶組成物(Merck社、MDA−14−4145)1gを塗布した後、第2配向膜が前記ボールスペーサーに接するように第2基板部材を結合して、セルを製作した。
第2基板部材の製作時に、偏光紫外線の照射条件を約45度の傾斜角度に変更して配向膜を製造したことを除いて、実施例1と同じ方法で液晶セルを製造した。
第2基板部材の製作時に、偏光紫外線の照射条件を約20度の傾斜角度に変更して配向膜を製造したことを除いて、実施例1と同じ方法で液晶セルを製造した。
第2基板部材の製作時に第2配向膜を形成するための偏光紫外線の照射角度を垂直(0度)に変更したことを除いて、実施例1と同じ方式でセルを製作した。
実施例1〜3および比較例1の上板の第2配向膜に対してプレチルト角を測定し、その結果を下記表1に記載した。図1および図2は、それぞれ実施例1〜3および比較例1の第2配向膜に隣接する液晶化合物の配向状態を例示的に示す。前記プレチルト角は、Axoscan(axometics社)装備を利用して角度別に位相差値を測定し、シミュレーションすることによって測定した。具体的に、前記第2配向膜がコーティングされた等方性基材をアンチパラレル配向構造で3μmのセルギャップのデバイスを製作した後、70度から−70度まで0.1度の間隔で位相差を測定した後、同一角度で位相差の差異を通じて2x2 Jones matrixを利用した液晶層の分子配列からシミュレーションすることによって、プレチルト角を測定した。
実施例1〜3および比較例1に対して均一駆動の有無を評価した。具体的に、低電圧駆動(3V)で液晶が発現するリバースチルトドメインのサイズを顕微鏡で測定する方式で評価した。
実施例1および比較例1に対して均一駆動の有無を評価した。具体的に、実施例1および比較例1の素子に対してヘーズメーター(NDH−5000SP)装備を利用して電圧を印加しつつ角度(視野角)に応じたヘイズ値を測定する方式で評価した。

Claims (15)
- 第1電極フィルムと、前記第1電極フィルム上に形成された第1配向膜と、前記第1配向膜に固着したボールスペーサーとを含む第1基板部材と;
第2電極フィルムと、前記第2電極フィルム上に形成されたプレチルト角が0.2度〜89度である第2配向膜とを含む第2基板部材と;
前記第1配向膜と前記第2配向膜との間に形成された液晶層と;を含む透過度可変フィルム。 - 前記ボールスペーサーの下部は、第1配向膜の上部に形成された硬化物を媒介として前記第1配向膜に固着する、請求項1に記載の透過度可変フィルム。
- 前記ボールスペーサーの上部は、前記第2配向膜と接して前記第1配向膜と前記第2配向膜との間に前記液晶層が形成されるように間隔を維持する、請求項1または2に記載の透過度可変フィルム。
- 前記ボールスペーサーの直径は、2μm〜100μmであり、炭素系物質、金属系物質、酸化物系物質およびこれらの複合物質よりなる群から選択される1種以上を含む、請求項1から3のいずれか一項に記載の透過度可変フィルム。
- 第1配向膜の表面粗度は、3nm〜100nmである、請求項1から4のいずれか一項に記載の透過度可変フィルム。
- 前記第1配向膜は、ランダムプレチルトを有する、請求項1から5のいずれか一項に記載の透過度可変フィルム。
- 前記第1配向膜は、配向膜物質およびナノ粒子を含む、請求項1から6のいずれか一項に記載の透過度可変フィルム。
- 前記液晶層は、スメクチック(smectic)液晶化合物、ネマチック(nematic)液晶化合物またはコレステリック(cholesteric)液晶化合物を含む、請求項1から7のいずれか一項に記載の透過度可変フィルム。
- 前記液晶層は、異方性染料をさらに含む、請求項1から8のいずれか一項に記載の透過度可変フィルム。
- 前記第1配向膜および第2配向膜は、光配向膜である、請求項1から9のいずれか一項に記載の透過度可変フィルム。
- 前記第1配向膜および第2配向膜は、水平配向膜であり、前記液晶層は、電圧無印加状態で水平配向状態であり、電圧印加状態で垂直配向状態に転換される、請求項1から10のいずれか一項に記載の透過度可変フィルム。
- 第1電極フィルムと前記第1電極フィルム上に形成された第1配向膜と前記第1配向膜に固着したボールスペーサーとを含む第1基板部材と、第2電極フィルムと前記第2電極フィルム上に形成されたプレチルト角が0.2度以上〜89度以下である第2配向膜とを含む第2基板部材の前記第1配向膜と前記第2配向膜との間に液晶層を形成する工程を含む透過度可変フィルムの製造方法。
- 前記第2配向膜は、第2電極フィルム上に配向性物質を含む第2配向膜組成物をコーティング、乾燥および硬化することによって形成する、請求項12に記載の透過度可変フィルムの製造方法。
- 前記第2配向膜組成物の硬化は、偏光紫外線を5度〜85度の傾斜角度で照射することによって行われる、請求項13に記載の透過度可変フィルムの製造方法。
- 請求項1から11のいずれか一項に記載の透過度可変フィルムを含むサンルーフ。
