第1直線偏光を透過する透過軸を有し、前記透過軸と交差する第2直線偏光を反射する第1光学素子と、前記第1直線偏光及び前記第2直線偏光を前記第1光学素子に向けて出射する表示部と、前記第1光学素子によって反射された前記第2直線偏光を再帰反射し、前記第1直線偏光に変調する第2光学素子と、前記第1光学素子を透過した前記第1直線偏光を再帰反射し、前記第2直線偏光に変調する第3光学素子と、を備えた表示装置が提供される。

を備えた表示装置。 - 前記光学素子は、前記第1面を有する第1偏光素子と、前記第2面を有し前記第1偏光素子から離間した第2偏光素子とを含み、
前記第1及び第2偏光素子は、第1直線偏光を透過する透過軸を有し、前記透過軸と交差する第2直線偏光を反射する、請求項1に記載の表示装置。 - 前記第1偏光素子と前記第2偏光素子との間に位置する支持基板をさらに備える、請求項2に記載の表示装置。
- 前記第1再帰反射素子と重なり、透過光に位相差を付与する第1位相差板と、
前記第2再帰反射素子と重なり、透過光に位相差を付与する第2位相差板と、
をさらに備える、請求項1乃至3のいずれか1項に記載の表示装置。 - 前記表示部は、第2直線偏光を出射する表示パネルと、前記表示パネルと重なる変調素子を備え、
前記変調素子は、前記第2直線偏光を選択的に第1直線偏光に変調する、請求項1乃至4のいずれか1項に記載の表示装置。 - 前記変調素子は、光を透過する有効領域を有し、
前記有効領域は、前記第2直線偏光を前記第1直線偏光に変調する変調領域と、前記第2直線偏光を透過する無変調領域とに時間的に切り替わる、請求項5に記載の表示装置。 - 前記変調素子は、液晶パネルである、請求項6に記載の表示装置。
- 前記変調素子は、光を透過する有効領域を有し、
前記有効領域は、前記第2直線偏光を前記第1直線偏光に変調する変調領域と、前記第2直線偏光を透過する無変調領域とを含んでいる、請求項5に記載の表示装置。 - 前記変調素子は、液晶パネル、又は位相差フィルムである、請求項8に記載の表示装置。
- 第1直線偏光を透過する透過軸を有し、前記透過軸と交差する第2直線偏光を反射する第1光学素子と、
前記第1直線偏光及び前記第2直線偏光を前記第1光学素子に向けて出射する表示部と、
前記第1光学素子によって反射された前記第2直線偏光を再帰反射し、前記第1直線偏光に変調する第2光学素子と、
前記第1光学素子を透過した前記第1直線偏光を再帰反射し、前記第2直線偏光に変調する第3光学素子と、
を備えた表示装置。
