例えばE.I.DuPontから入手可能であると考えられ、開示された冷圧定着トナーのコアに、例えばコアのトナー固形分に基づいて、例えば約20重量%〜約80重量%、約10重量%〜約75重量%、約25重量%〜約75重量%、約45重量%〜約50重量%、または約50重量%〜約80重量%の量で含まれる、コポリエステル−コポリジメチルシロキサンの例を以下の反応式Iに示す。

開示された冷圧定着トナーのコアに存在するトナー着色剤の例には、顔料、染料、顔料と染料の混合物、顔料の混合物、染料の混合物などが含まれる。実施形態において、着色剤は、カーボンブラック、マグネタイト、ブラック、シアン、マゼンタ、イエロー、レッド、グリーン、ブルー、ブラウン、およびそれらの混合物を含む。

本明細書に例示の冷圧定着トナーには、例えば、Cibaから入手可能な酸化防止剤のIRGANOX(登録商標)1010、全てAddivantから入手可能なNAUGARD(登録商標)76、NAUGARD(登録商標)445、NAUGARD(登録商標)512、NAUGARD(登録商標)524、Mayzo Inc.から入手可能なホスホン酸のカルシウム塩であるMAYZO(登録商標)BNX(登録商標)1425、ノニルフェノールジスルフィドであるMAYZO(登録商標)BNX(登録商標)358およびETHANOX(登録商標)323Aなど、多くの既知の添加剤を含めることができ、添加剤は、例えばCPFトナー固形分の約0.01重量%〜約25重量%、約0.1重量%〜約25重量%、または約1重量%〜約20重量%の量で存在し得る。
本明細書に例示された冷圧定着トナー組成物は、例えば米国特許第5,593,807号明細書、第5,290,654号明細書、第5,308,734号明細書、第5,370,963号明細書、第6,120,967号明細書、第7,029,817号明細書、第7,736,832号明細書、第8,466,254号明細書、第9,428,622号明細書および第9,410,037号明細書を含む多くの特許に記載されているような乳化凝集/合一法によって調製することができる。
開示された冷圧定着トナー組成物用に様々な適切な表面添加剤を選択することができる。添加剤の例としては、表面処理されたヒュームドシリカ、例えば、Cabosil Corporationから入手可能であり、8ナノメートルの粒径を有し、表面処理されたヘキサメチルジシラザンであるTS−530(登録商標)、DeGussa/日本アエロジル(株)から入手され、HMDSで被覆されたNAX50(登録商標)シリカ、Cabot Corporationから入手され、DTMSで被覆されたヒュームドシリカ二酸化ケイ素コアL90で構成されるDTMS(登録商標)シリカ、Wacker Chemieから入手され、アミノ官能基化オルガノポリシロキサンで被覆されたH2050EP(登録商標)、TiO2などの金属酸化物、例えば、テイカ(株)から入手可能であり、16ナノメートルの粒径を有し、デシルシランで表面処理されたMT−3103(登録商標)、テイカ(株)から入手可能であり、結晶性二酸化チタンコアMT500BがDTMSで被覆されたSMT5103(登録商標)、Degussa Chemicalsから入手可能であり、表面処理なしのP−25(登録商標)、酸化アルミニウムなどの金属酸化物、潤滑剤としてのステアリン酸塩、または長鎖アルコール、例えばUNXLIN 700(登録商標)、および同様の物が挙げられる。一般に、シリカは、トナー流、摩擦電気的増強、混合制御、改良された現像および転写安定性、およびより高いトナーブロッキング温度のためにトナー表面に適用される。相対湿度(RH)安定性、摩擦制御、改良された現像および転写安定性のためにTiO2が添加される。
本開示には本明細書に例示されるトナーおよび担体粒子を含む現像剤組成物も包含される。

スチレン81重量%、n−ブチルアクリレート19重量%、およびベータ−カルボキシエチルアクリレート(β−CEA)1.5重量%の乳化重合から生成したポリマー粒子から構成される非晶質ポリ(スチレン−アクリレート)樹脂である樹脂Dは、以下のように調製した。
上記で調製した実施例IIの結晶性コポリ−(ノニレン−ドデカン酸)−コポリ−(3−プロピル−ジメチルシロキサン)樹脂である樹脂B(全樹脂の35重量%)、および上記で調製した実施例IIIのプロポキシル化ビスフェノールA、テレフタル酸、ドデセニルコハク酸およびフマル酸由来の非晶質ポリエステル樹脂terpoly−(プロポキシル化ビスフェノールA−テレフタレート)−terpoly−(プロポキシル化ビスフェノールA−ドデセニルコハク酸エステル)−terpoly−(プロポキシル化ビスフェノールA−フマレート)−(プロポキシル化ビスフェノールA−トリメリテート)である樹脂C(全樹脂の35重量%)のコアと、上記で調製した実施例IVの非晶質ポリ(スチレン−アクリレート)樹脂である樹脂D(全樹脂の30重量%)から構成される、コアを覆うシェルに含まれる、シアンの冷圧定着トナーを調製した。
実験室の冷圧定着装置は、243mm/sのプロセス速度、1,000psi(6.9MPa、メガパスカル)および1,500psi(10.3MPa)の可変ニップ圧力負荷面積、およびロール接触長さ70mmで利用した。圧力は一定の5kg/cm2(82ポンド/インチ2)に維持した。融着固定を無効にしたXerox Corporation 800プリンタを使用して、紙上にトナー画像を生成した。次いで、得られた未融着の印刷物を上記の実験室の冷圧定着装置に供した。次いで、Taber Linear Abraser(Model 5700)を市販のCrockクロスアタッチメントと共に用いて、画像の耐久性を評価した。画像を10サイクル/分、次いで60サイクル/分で擦った。上記表2のトナーは全て、紙への優れたトナー定着を示し、Taber Linear Abraser(Model 5700)での試験中、Crockクロスへのトナー画像の移動は全くないか最小限であった。

- 着色剤と、結晶性コポリエステル−コポリジメチルシロキサン樹脂および非晶質樹脂を備えるコアと、コアを覆うポリマーシェルとを備える冷圧定着トナー組成物。
- 前記aは約300〜約700の数であり、前記bは約50〜約75の数であり、前記mは約6〜約10の数であり、前記nは約4〜約10の数であり、前記pは325〜約725の数である、請求項2に記載のトナー。
- 前記結晶性コポリエステル−コポリジメチルシロキサン樹脂は、コポリ(ヘキシレンドデカノエート)−コポリ−(3−プロピル−ジメチルシロキサン)、コポリ(ブチレンドデカノエート)−コポリ−(3−プロピル−ジメチルシロキサン)、コポリ−(エチレンセバケート)−コポリ−(3−プロピル−ジメチルシロキサン)、コポリ−(ブチレンセバケート)−コポリ−(3−プロピル−ジメチルシロキサン)、コポリ−(ブチレンドデカノエート)−コポリ−(3−プロピル−ジメチルシロキサン)、コポリ−(エチレンドデカノエート)−コポリ−(3−プロピル−ジメチルシロキサン)、およびコポリ−(ノニレンドデカノエート)−コポリ−(3−プロピル−ジメチルシロキサン)で構成される群から選択される、請求項1に記載のトナー。

式中、R1およびR2はメチルであり、aは1〜約1,000の数であり、bは1〜約100の数であり、mは6〜約10の数であり、nは4〜約10の数であり、またpは5〜約1,000の数であり、前記aおよび前記bは前記コポリエステル−コポリジメチルシロキサン結晶性樹脂のランダムセグメントを表す、コポリエステル−コポリジメチルシロキサン結晶性樹脂と、terpoly−(プロポキシル化ビスフェノールA−テレフタレート)−terpoly−(プロポキシル化ビスフェノールA−ドデセニルコハク酸エステル)terpoly−(プロポキシル化ビスフェノールA−フマレート)、terpoly−(プロポキシル化ビスフェノールA−テレフタレート)−terpoly−(プロポキシル化ビスフェノールA−ドデセニルコハク酸エステル)−terpoly−−(エトキシル化ビスフェノールA−テレフタレート)−terpoly−(エトキシル化ビスフェノールA−ドデセニルコハク酸エステル)−terpoly−(プロポキシル化ビスフェノールA−トリメリテート)−terpoly−(エトキシル化ビスフェノールA−トリメリテート)、ポリ(プロポキシル化ビスフェノール−A−コフマレート)、コポリ(プロポキシル化ビスフェノール−フマレート)−コポリ(トリメチロールプロポキシル化−ビスフェノール−フマレート)、コポリ(エトキシル化ビスフェノール−フマレート)−コポリ(トリメチロールプロポキシル化−ビスフェノール−フマレート)、コポリ(ブトキシル化ビスフェノール−フマレート)−コポリ(トリメチロールプロポキシル化−ビスフェノール−フマレート)、およびコポリ(プロポキシル化1,4−ジフェノール−フマレート)−コポリ(グリセリンオキシル化−ジフェノール−フマレート)で構成される群から選択される非晶質樹脂との混合物を含むコアと、前記コアを包むシェルであって、スチレンアクリレートと前記非晶質樹脂とで構成される群から選択される前記シェルとを備える、冷圧定着トナー組成物。 - 前記シェル用の前記非晶質樹脂が、terpoly−(プロポキシル化ビスフェノールA−テレフタレート)−terpoly−(プロポキシル化ビスフェノールA−ドデセニルコハク酸エステル)−terpoly−(プロポキシル化ビスフェノールA−フマレート)、およびterpoly−(プロポキシル化ビスフェノールA−テレフタレート)−terpoly−(プロポキシル化ビスフェノールA−ドデセニルコハク酸エステル)−terpoly−(エトキシル化ビスフェノールA−テレフタレート)−terpoly−(エトキシル化ビスフェノールA−ドデセニルコハク酸エステル)−terpoly−(プロポキシル化ビスフェノールA−トリメリテート)−terpoly−(エトキシル化ビスフェノールA−トリメリテート)で構成される群から選択される、請求項8に記載のトナー。
- 前記コポリエステル−コポリジメチルシロキサン結晶性樹脂が前記トナーの約10重量%〜約75重量%の量で存在し、前記非晶質樹脂が前記トナーの約25〜約50重量%の量で存在する、請求項8に記載のトナー。
