−Dynwet(登録商標)800は、BYK Inc.から入手可能な界面活性剤である。
−BYK(登録商標)024は、BYK Inc.から入手可能な消泡剤である。
−水酸化アンモニウムは、PH調節剤である。
−Acrumer(登録商標)9300は、Dow Co.から入手可能な分散剤である。
−Hydrocarb(登録商標)H60は、Omya Inc.から入手可能な粗いCaCO3スラリーである。
−Hydrocarb(登録商標)H90は、OmyaI nc.から入手可能な微細CaCO3スラリーである。

本開示による記録媒体、及び比較媒体を準備した。媒体A、B及びCは、本開示に記載されているインク記録媒体である。媒体D、E及びFは、比較媒体である。媒体A〜Fは、ベース紙基材、第1のコーティング層及び最上画像受容層をそれぞれ含むよう準備される。
例1で得られた記録媒体A〜Fが、それらの印刷性能、特にそれらのインク接着性能について評価される。媒体A〜Fは、下の表3に示すように、ブラックインクと組み合せて試験される。全てのパーセントは、インク組成物の全重量を基準とする重量パーセント(重量%)で表現される。インク組成物のラテックス成分は、ラテックス形態のポリアクリレート−スチレンコポリマー(つまり、式Iのポリマー接着促進剤)である。
Claims (15)
- 原ベース基材を含む記録媒体であって、当該原ベース基材の画像側に第1のコーティング層及び最上画像受容層を含むものであって、前記画像受容層が、90℃又は90℃を超えるガラス転移温度を有するポリマー接着促進剤を含む、記録媒体。
- 前記ポリマー接着促進剤が、約150〜約350ナノメートルの範囲の粒径を有し且つ90℃又は90℃を超えるガラス転移温度を有するラテックス粒子の形態の水性エマルジョンである、請求項1に記載の記録媒体。
- 前記ポリマー接着促進剤が、ホモポリマー、又はアルキルアクリレート、アルキルメタクリレート、アルキルアクリル酸、アルキルメタクリル酸、ビニルエステル及び/又はスチレン誘導体のコポリマーである、請求項1に記載の記録媒体。
- 前記媒体が、前記原ベース基材の裏側に第1のコーティング層をさらに含む、請求項1に記載の記録媒体。
- 前記媒体が、前記原ベース基材の裏側に接着剤層をさらに含む、請求項1に記載の記録媒体。
- 記録媒体を製造する方法であって、
a.第1のコート層を原ベース基材の画像側に塗布し、
b.前記第1のコート層を乾燥し、
c.最上画像受容層を前記第1のコーティング層上に塗布し、前記画像受容層が、90℃又は90℃を超えるガラス転移温度を有するポリマー接着促進剤を含む、方法。 - 前記第1のコーティング層が、前記媒体の前記原ベースの画像側及び裏側に塗布される、請求項6に記載の記録媒体を製造する方法。
- 前記原ベース基材の前記裏側に接着剤層が塗布される、請求項6に記載の記録媒体を製造する方法。
- 印刷方法であって、
a.原ベース基材を含む記録媒体であって、当該原ベース基材の画像側に、第1のコート層及び最上画像受容層を有し、前記画像受容層が、90℃又は90℃を超えるガラス転移温度を有するポリマー接着促進剤を含む記録媒体を得て、
b.ラテックス成分を含有するインク組成物を前記記録媒体上に噴射して、向上した画像品質及び画像性能を有する印刷画像を形成する
ことを含む方法。 - 前記インク組成物が、90℃又は90℃を超えるガラス転移温度を有するラテックス成分を含む、請求項9に記載の印刷方法。
- 前記インク組成物の前記ラテックス成分と前記記録媒体の前記ポリマー接着促進剤との溶解度パラメータの前記差が、0.8(cal.cm−3)1/2未満である、請求項9に記載の印刷方法。
- 前記インク組成物が、前記記録媒体の前記画像受容層中の前記ポリマー接着促進剤と同一のラテックス成分を含む、請求項9に記載の印刷方法。
- 記録媒体を含む印刷物であって、当該記録媒体上に、印刷フィーチャがインク組成物によって形成されているものであって、
a.前記記録媒体が、原ベース基材であって、その画像側に第1のコート層及び最上画像受容層を有する原ベース基材を有し、前記画像受容層が、ポリマー接着促進剤を含み、90℃又はそれを超えるガラス転移温度を有し、
b.前記インク組成物が、90℃又は90℃を超えるガラス転移温度を有するラテックス成分を含む、印刷物。 - 前記インク組成物の前記ラテックス成分と前記記録媒体の前記ポリマー接着促進剤との溶解度パラメータの前記差が、0.8(cal.cm−3)l/2未満である、請求項13に記載の印刷物。
- 前記インク組成物の前記ラテックス成分が、前記記録媒体の前記画像受容層中に存在する前記ポリマー接着促進剤と同一である、請求項13に記載の印刷物。
