Abstract
【解決手段】100nm未満の大きさの微視的細孔を有する活性炭の粉末に、焼成時に消失するメルタブルコアおよびバインダを水とともに加えて混合し、外径が4〜6mmの中空円筒形に成形して焼成する。メルタブルコアによって100nm以上の大きさの巨視的細孔が形成されるが、微視的細孔の容積に対する巨視的細孔の容積の割合を65〜150%に調整する。吸着材10は、円筒壁10Aと十字形の放射状壁10Bとを有する断面形状とし、各部の肉厚を0.6mm〜3mmの範囲とする。

Description
[実施例]
前述した粉末状の活性炭、バインダおよびメルタブルコアを用い、成形ならびに焼成して、表1に示す実施例1〜3の吸着材を形成した。いずれも、図2に示した十字形の放射状壁10Bを有する中空円筒状とし、実施例1,2では、外形D1が4.9mm、最大の肉厚となる円筒壁10Aの肉厚が0.8mmであり、実施例3では、外形D1が4.6mm、最大の肉厚となる円筒壁10Aの肉厚が0.7mmである。活性炭に混合するメルタブルコアの量を調整することで、微視的細孔の容積に対する巨視的細孔の容積の割合をそれぞれ異ならせてあり、この巨視的細孔の割合は、実施例1では105%、実施例2では75%、実施例3では65%であった。これらの実施例1〜3では、表1に示すように、目標とする1.7g/dL以下のブタン残存量および95%以上の硬さが得られた。

Claims (3)
- 100nm未満の大きさの微視的細孔を有する活性炭の粉末に、焼成時に消失するメルタブルコアをバインダとともに加えて焼成することで、100nm以上の大きさの巨視的細孔を形成してなるキャニスタ用吸着材であって、
この吸着材は、外形状として、外径が4〜6mmの円柱状もしくは直径が4〜6mmの球形をなし、かつ、各部の肉厚が0.6mm〜3mmとなるように中空形状をなし、
吸着材における微視的細孔の容積に対する巨視的細孔の容積の割合が、65〜150パーセントである、ことを特徴とするキャニスタ用吸着材。 - 上記吸着材は、外側の円筒壁と、この円筒壁の中心部に設けられた放射状壁と、からなる中空断面形状を有し、上記円筒壁および上記放射状壁の各部の肉厚が0.6mm〜3mmの範囲内にあることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のキャニスタ用吸着材。
- 請求項1または2に記載のキャニスタ用吸着材がケース内に充填されているとともに、流れ方向の一端に燃料蒸気の流入・流出部を備え、かつ他端に大気開放口を備えたキャニスタであって、上記吸着材が充填される流路の等価直径が、上記吸着材の上記外径もしくは上記直径の7倍以上であることを特徴とするキャニスタ。
