Abstract
【解決手段】ゲート電極30gと電気的に接続された走査線3aと、データ線側ソースドレイン領域30sと電気的に接続されたデータ線6aと、画素電極側ソースドレイン領域30dと電気的に接続された画素電極27と、容量線3bに電気的に接続された第1容量電極16aと、第1容量電極16aと対向して設けられた第2容量電極16cと、第1容量電極16aと第2容量電極16cとに挟持された誘電体層16bと、を有する容量素子16と、を備え、トランジスター30と走査線3aとデータ線6aとが設けられた層と、画素電極27が設けられた層との間において、第1容量電極16aは、誘電体層16b及び第2容量電極16cに覆われて配置されている。

Description
<電気光学装置の構成>
図1(a)は、電気光学装置としての液晶装置の構成を示す模式平面図である。図1(b)は、図1(a)に示す液晶装置のH−H’線に沿う模式断面図である。図2は、液晶装置の電気的な構成を示す等価回路図である。以下、液晶装置の構造を、図1及び図2を参照しながら説明する。
図8は、上記した液晶装置を備えた電子機器としての投射型表示装置の構成を示す概略図である。以下、液晶装置を備えた投射型表示装置の構成を、図8を参照しながら説明する。
<電気光学装置の構成>
図9は、第2実施形態の電気光学装置としての液晶装置の構造を示す模式平面図である。図10は、図9の液晶装置の画素のA−A’線に沿う模式断面図である。以下、画素の平面的な構造と断面構造について、図9及び図10を参照しながら説明する。
上記したように、容量素子16を構成する2つの容量電極16a,16cが金属層(アルミニウム、窒化チタンなど)で構成されていることに限定されず、例えば、ITOなど透明導電膜で構成するようにしてもよい。
上記した第2実施形態のように、第1容量電極116aの形状がL字状であることに限定されず、例えば、第1容量電極116aの面積が極端に減らない形状であれば、その他の形状でもよい。また、コンタクトホールCNT4の周長を長くするように、コンタクトホールCNT4の周部を波状にしてもよい。
上記実施形態では、コンタクトホールCNT8の位置を平面視でコンタクトホールCNT4と重ならない位置に設けるようにしたが、コンタクトホールCNT8の位置を平面視でコンタクトホールCNT4と重なる位置にしてもよい。これにより、コンタクトホールCNT8及びコンタクトホールCNT4のコンタクト面積を広げることができる。
上記したように、上記液晶装置100などの電気光学装置は、例えば、トランジスターを備えたアクティブ駆動型の電気光学装置であって、有機EL(Electro Luminescence)装置、電気泳動装置などの表示装置にも適用することができる。また、反射型液晶装置(LCOS)、プラズマディスプレイ(PDP)、電界放出型ディスプレイ(FED、SED)、デジタルマイクロミラーデバイス(DMD)にも適用可能である。
上記したように、電子機器として投射型表示装置1000(プロジェクター)を例に説明してきたが、これに限定されず、例えば、ビューワー、ビューファインダー、ヘッドマウントディスプレイなどに適用するようにしてもよい。また、液晶テレビ、携帯電話、電子手帳、ワードプロセッサー、ビューファインダー型又はモニター直視型のビデオテープレコーダー、ワークステーション、モバイル型のパーソナルコンピューター、テレビ電話、POS端末、ページャー、電卓、タッチパネルなどの各種電子機器、また、電子ペーパーなどの電気泳動装置、カーナビゲーション装置等に適用するようにしてもよい。
Claims (7)
- ゲート電極、第1ソースドレイン領域、第2ソースドレイン領域を有するトランジスターと、
前記ゲート電極と電気的に接続された走査線と、前記第1ソースドレイン領域と電気的に接続されたデータ線と、前記第2ソースドレイン領域と電気的に接続された画素電極と、
容量線に電気的に接続された第1容量電極と、前記第1容量電極と対向して設けられた第2容量電極と、前記第1容量電極と前記第2容量電極とに挟持された誘電体層と、を有する容量素子と、
を備え、
前記トランジスターと前記走査線と前記データ線とが設けられた層と、前記画素電極が設けられた層と、の間において、前記第1容量電極は、前記誘電体層及び前記第2容量電極に覆われて配置されていることを特徴とする電気光学装置。 - 請求項1に記載の電気光学装置であって、
前記第2容量電極と前記画素電極との間には、第1絶縁膜が形成されており、
前記第1絶縁膜に設けられた第1コンタクトホールを介して前記第2容量電極と前記画素電極とは電気的に接続されており、
前記第1コンタクトホールは、前記容量素子と平面視で重なる位置に配置されることを特徴とする電気光学装置。 - 請求項1又は請求項2に記載の電気光学装置であって、
前記第1容量電極と前記容量線との間には第2絶縁膜が設けられており、
前記第2絶縁膜に設けられた第2コンタクトホールを介して前記第1容量電極と前記容量線とが接続されており、
前記第2コンタクトホールは、平面視で前記第1容量電極と略重なる大きさに形成されていることを特徴とする電気光学装置。 - 請求項3に記載の電気光学装置であって、
前記第1コンタクトホールは、平面視で前記第2コンタクトホールと重ならない位置に配置されていることを特徴とする電気光学装置。 - 請求項1乃至請求項4のいずれか一項に記載の電気光学装置であって、
前記容量素子は、平面視で前記走査線と前記データ線との交差部に設けられていることを特徴とする電気光学装置。 - 請求項1乃至請求項4のいずれか一項に記載の電気光学装置であって、
前記容量素子は、平面視で前記トランジスターと重なる位置に設けられていることを特徴とする電気光学装置。 - 請求項1乃至請求項6のいずれか一項に記載の電気光学装置を備えることを特徴とする電子機器。
