また、上記特許文献2〜4に記載されている炭素繊維を用いたブラシは、耐熱性に優れているが、燃えやすく、防火性(難燃性・自己消化性)が良くない。尚、本明細書においては、防火性とは、燃えにくい性質又は不燃性を包含する意味である。また、本明細書においては、防火性に含まれる性質のうち、難燃性・自己消化性は、同義で用いている。そして、難燃性・自己消火性は、燃えにくいというだけではなく、火が付いた状態で火元に置いておくと燃焼し続けるが、火を遠ざけると自然に鎮火する性質、すなわち、延焼を最小限にくい止める性質を指す。
更に、一般的に炭素繊維は硬いため、加工せずに洗車用ブラシとして用いると車体を傷つけるという問題もある。

本発明に係る洗車用ブラシは、軟質塩化ビニル樹脂を主成分として含む高分子複合材料からなるフィラメント状の洗浄片からなることを要旨とする。
この場合に、前記洗浄片は、断面多角形状、断面星形形状、断面の周囲に凹凸が施された形状、又は、断面の周囲に鋭角部分が施された形状であることが望ましい。

更に、これらの試験用ブラシに点火し火元から離して放置したところ、いずれも鎮火した。このことから、実施例1〜4に係る試験用ブラシは、防火性(難燃性・自己消火性)に優れることがわかった。
