Abstract
【解決手段】部分点灯部4単位で点灯する光源部10からの照明光Loutを利用して、液晶表示パネル2において映像信号に基づく映像表示を行う。部分点灯部4単位で点灯する光源部10からの照明光Loutを光源部10内の複数の照明光センサ13により受光し、その受光データD1に基づいて各部分点灯部4の発光量を制御する。また、照明光センサ13の配置により、1つの部分点灯部4からの照明光Loutを2以上の照明光センサ13により受光する。照明光センサ13による受光データD1の値の信頼性が向上し、これにより照明光センサ13間での受光特性にばらつきが生じた場合であっても、受光特性のばらつきが抑えられ、部分点灯部4間での発光特性のばらつきも低減され得る。

Claims (9)
- 光を発する照明手段と、
前記照明手段から発せられた光を利用して映像を表示する表示手段と
を備え、
前記照明手段は、
互いに独立して制御可能な複数の部分点灯部を有する光源部と、
前記部分点灯部単位で点灯するように前記光源部を駆動する駆動手段と、
前記部分点灯部単位で点灯する前記光源部からの光を受光する複数の受光素子と、
前記受光素子により受光した光の光量に基づいて前記駆動手段を制御し、各部分点灯部の発光量をそれぞれ制御する制御手段と
を有し、
一の部分点灯部からの光が2以上の受光素子により受光されるように前記受光素子が配置されている
ことを特徴とする画像表示装置。 - 前記制御手段は、前記2以上の受光素子間における前記一の部分点灯部からの受光光量同士の比率である受光光量比が初期状態での値を保つように制御する
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の画像表示装置。 - 前記制御手段は、前記受光光量比が初期状態での値と一致しているのか否かを随時調査すると共に、その調査により現時点での受光光量比が初期状態での値と一致していないと判明した場合には、前記一の部分点灯部に対する2以上の受光素子のうちの少なくとも1つの受光素子による受光光量の値が正常ではないと判断し、その正常ではない受光光量の値を補正することにより、現時点での受光光量比が初期状態での値と一致するように制御する
ことを特徴とする請求項2に記載の画像表示装置。 - 前記制御手段は、前記一の部分点灯部に対する2以上の受光素子のうちの少なくとも1つの受光素子を用いた他の部分点灯部での受光光量比を利用して、前記2以上の受光素子のうちの受光光量の値が正常ではない受光素子を判別する
ことを特徴とする請求項3に記載の画像表示装置。 - 前記制御手段は、各部分点灯部の発光量が一定に保たれるように制御する
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の画像表示装置。 - 前記制御手段は、各部分点灯部の点灯期間および発光強度のうちの少なくとも一方を可変とすることにより、各部分点灯部の発光量が一定に保たれるように制御する
ことを特徴とする請求項5に記載の画像表示装置。 - 前記一の部分点灯部に対する2以上の受光素子による受光領域の一部が互いに重複するように各受光素子が配置されると共に、この互いに重複した受光領域において、一の部分点灯部からの光が前記2以上の受光素子により受光されるように構成されている
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の画像表示装置。 - 前記一の部分点灯部に対する2以上の受光素子による受光領域が互いに一致するように各受光素子が配置されると共に、この互いに一致した受光領域において、一の部分点灯部からの光が前記2以上の受光素子により受光されるように構成されている
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の画像表示装置。 - 前記表示手段が、前記照明手段から発せられた光を映像信号に基づいて変調することにより映像を表示する液晶パネルであり、液晶表示装置として構成されている
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の画像表示装置。
