Description

In the present invention, when a portable electronic device such as a notebook personal computer (hereinafter collectively referred to as a notebook computer) is accidentally dropped or hit against a hard object, an impact force harmful to the notebook computer is applied. This is related to an impact detection member for an electronic device and a failure warning / prediction device for warning the possibility of failure of a notebook personal computer or predicting failure.

In recent years, portable electronic devices such as notebook computers have been reduced in size and weight, and there are increasing opportunities to carry and move them outdoors. Accordingly, there are more and more cases of accidental dropping (FIG. 5 (a)) or hitting a hard object such as a corner of a desk (FIG. 5 (b)).

In general, a hard disk drive (HDD) is a head slap where the head strikes the disk surface when the head makes an impact perpendicular to the disk surface while reading or writing data, that is, when the bottom surface or top surface of a notebook computer is dropped. The phenomenon called is easy to occur. The head slap causes physical damage to the recording surface of the disk or the head, and at least data cannot be recorded / reproduced on the damaged part of the disk.

However, in actual use, the case where the surface (side surface portion) in the thickness direction of the notebook computer is dropped or hit against the wall with the display portion closed as shown in FIGS. It seems that there are more cases than the case where the impact force is applied to the bottom and top of the notebook computer.
JP 2001-118373 A JP 2000-99182 A JP 2005-156854 A JP 2005-30937 A

In such a case, although there is little damage to the HDD, the impact force per unit area is large and the degree of mechanical damage is also increased for the side surface portion having a smaller area than the bottom and top surfaces of the notebook computer. Therefore, the damage of the notebook PC case is more severe than the former case. Not only the case but also the parts that make up the electric circuit inside the case, unit parts composed of electric parts, damage to mechanical parts, battery terminals and various other things May lead to poor terminal contact.

If the user accidentally drops the laptop, the laptop can be noticed and foreseeable, but it can be applied to a hard object without being aware of it while it is being carried. If the person accidentally dropped it and did not tell the owner, the laptop administrator, that it was dropped, it continued to be used despite the possibility of malfunction, and the symptoms of the malfunction when it was essential during work May surface. Therefore, in such a case, it is necessary to warn the user of the possibility of failure or to predict the failure that an impact force harmful to the notebook computer has been applied in some way.

The present invention solves the above-mentioned conventional problems. When a portable electronic device such as a notebook computer is accidentally dropped or hit against a hard object, an impact force harmful to the notebook computer is added. An object of the present invention is to provide an impact detection member and a failure warning / prediction device that notify a user, warn of a possibility of failure, or predict a failure.

As described above, the impact detection member and the failure warning / prediction device of the present invention have an impact force that is harmful to a notebook computer when a portable electronic device such as a notebook computer is accidentally dropped or hit against a hard object. It is possible to obtain an excellent effect that the user can be notified of the addition of the warning, the warning of the possibility of the failure, or the prediction of the failure.

Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS. 1 to 3.

(Embodiment 1)
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of an impact detection member mounted inside a casing from which the casing of the notebook computer of the present invention is removed.

In FIG. 1, 11 is an internal frame forming a casing of a notebook personal computer, and 12 is an impact detection member constituting the failure warning / prediction device of the present invention. The impact detection member 12 includes a conical base part 121 and a spherical impact detection part 122 that drops off with a predetermined impact force. The base part 121 and the impact detection part 122 are integrally formed of the same material, and are narrow and constricted parts that are damaged when the force more than a predetermined impact force is applied and the impact detection part 122 falls off the base part 121. Are connected by a constricted portion 123. The impact detection member 12 is fixed to the wall surface of the inner frame 11 of the notebook computer by the base 121 so as not to be easily detached with an adhesive. Reference numeral 13 denotes a lid, which forms a box 14 composed of a floor wall on which the impact detection member 12 is arranged, four side walls, and the lid 13 to constitute a failure warning / prediction device.

FIG. 2 is a diagram for explaining the operation of the impact detection member when the notebook personal computer is accidentally dropped in the direction of 90 degrees with respect to the installation surface of the impact detection member 12.

FIG. 3 is a diagram for explaining the operation of the impact detection member when the notebook personal computer is mistakenly dropped in the direction of 180 degrees which is another angle different from that of FIG. 2 with respect to the installation surface of the impact detection member 12.

The operation of the impact detection member and the failure warning / prediction device configured as described above will be described with reference to FIGS.

In FIG. 2, when the notebook personal computer is accidentally dropped in the direction of 90 degrees with respect to the installation surface of the impact detection member 12 (a) and collides with the floor surface, the impact detection unit 122 attempts to further drop due to its inertia. A force proportional to the drop impact force is applied to the constricted portion 123 between the substantially stationary base portion 121 (b). When the impact force exceeds a predetermined value, the constricted portion 123 is damaged and the impact detecting portion 122 falls off the base portion 121 (c). The dropped spherical impact detection unit 122 can move in the box 14 formed by the wall portion of the frame 11 and the lid 13, and emits a foreign substance mixed sound “caracara” when the laptop is moved or carried. Thus, the user is warned of the possibility of a failure due to an impact, or the failure is predicted, by causing the user to think that “an abnormal noise is generated inside the device.

Inertia is a property that attempts to maintain the motion state of an object when the object is not subjected to external force. When no force is applied to a stationary object, the object remains stationary with respect to the inertial system. On the other hand, when a force does not act on a moving object, the object maintains a state of motion with respect to the inertial system and has the property of continuing constant-velocity linear motion. This is the law of inertia (the first law of motion). Are known.

F=m・a
a:加速度(v/Δt)
In FIG. 2B, when it collides with the floor surface, the impact detector 122 tries to continue dropping (linear motion) according to the law of inertia, but the base 121 fixed to the frame 11 reaches the floor surface and is almost stationary. Therefore, an instantaneous displacement force (F) proportional to the impact force is generated between the impact detection unit 122 and the stationary base unit 121. If the strength of the constricted portion 123 exceeds this force, it is damaged and the impact is detected. The part 122 is dropped from the base part 121. F is shown below.
F = m · a
m: Mass of the impact detector 122 a: Acceleration (v / Δt)
v: speed of the base 121 immediately before the collision, and the speed Δt of the impact detection unit 122: time until the base 121 immediately before the collision is substantially stationary (speed v = 0) from the speed v. In FIG. On the other hand, if the notebook personal computer is accidentally dropped in the direction of 180 degrees (a) and collides with the floor surface, the impact detection unit 122 tries to further drop due to its inertia, and therefore, the constriction between the base portion 121 and the substantially stationary base portion due to the fall. A force proportional to the drop impact force is applied to the portion 123 (b). When the impact force exceeds a predetermined value, the constricted portion 123 is damaged and the impact detecting portion 122 falls off the base portion 121 (c). The dropped spherical impact detection unit 122 can move in the box 14 formed by the wall portion of the frame 11 and the lid 13, and emits a foreign substance mixing sound “caracara” when the laptop is moved or carried. Thus, the user is warned of the possibility of a failure due to an impact, or the failure is predicted, by causing the user to think that “an abnormal noise is generated inside the device.

Thus, it can be seen that even if the angle is different from that of FIG. 2, the same effect can be obtained if the notebook personal computer is accidentally dropped and an impact force of a predetermined level or more is applied to the impact detection member.

As described above, according to the impact detection member and the failure warning / prediction device of the present embodiment, if a portable electronic device such as a laptop computer is accidentally dropped or hit against a hard object, the laptop computer The user can be informed that a destructive impact force has been applied, warn of the possibility of a failure, or foresee a failure.

The impact detection member 12 is composed of a conical base portion 121 and a spherical impact detection portion 122. The base portion 121 and the impact detection portion 122 are thin and connected by a constricted portion 123 of a constricted portion. However, the shape is not limited to such a shape, and the base portion may be a polygonal pyramid shape or a thin column shape, and the impact detection portion 122 may be a regular polyhedron or the like whose center of gravity is at the center of the figure shape. Good. That is, when an impact force is applied to the electronic device provided with the impact detection member 12 from any direction and the impact force exceeds a predetermined value from any direction, the portion supporting the impact detection unit 122 is damaged and the base portion Any shape that drops out from 121 may be used.

Further, it has been described that the base part 121 and the impact detection part 122 constituting the impact detection member 12 are integrally formed of the same material, but the sensitivity of the impact detection is increased, that is, the impact detection part 122 is dropped by a weaker impact force. As such, the weight of the impact detector 122 may be increased. In this case, the impact detection member 12 may be formed of resin, and a metal ball may be embedded in the center portion in order to increase the weight of the impact detection unit 122.

The sensitivity of impact detection of the impact detection member 12 can also be adjusted by changing the length of the constricted portion 123 diameter and the shape of the constriction.

In addition, the impact detection member 12 is fixed to one wall surface of the box 14 formed by the wall surface of the inner frame 11 and the lid body 13 with an adhesive. However, as shown in FIGS. You may comprise as a prediction apparatus unit. Each of the two pieces 21 and 22 or the two pieces 31 and 32 may be resin-molded, or the impact detection member 12 may be composed of three pieces as separate pieces and later bonded with an adhesive or the like. Good. By configuring as a failure warning / prediction device unit in this way, there is an effect that it can be fixed and arranged with an adhesive or the like in an arbitrary empty space of a notebook personal computer.

Further, the case where the notebook personal computer is accidentally dropped in the direction of 180 degrees with respect to the installation surface of the impact detection member 12 in FIG. 3 has been described. If the notebook personal computer is accidentally dropped in a direction 180 degrees different from this case, that is, in the 0 degree direction, the impact force applied to the impact detection unit 122 is supported by the base unit 121 and may not fall off with a predetermined impact force. . Such a case can also be solved by arranging another impact detection member 12 at a different angle. It is effective to arrange the failure warning / prediction device unit of FIG. 4 in an arbitrary empty space of the notebook personal computer at different angles.

Further, the embodiment in which the impact detection member 12 is fixedly accommodated on one wall surface of the box body 14 has been described so far. However, this is because the dropped impact detection unit 122 can move within the casing of the notebook computer. This is in order to avoid causing a failure such as being caught in a gap between mechanical parts in the personal computer. Therefore, if the configuration inside the notebook personal computer case without such a worry can be guaranteed, the box 14 is not necessary, and the impact detection unit 122 that has fallen off due to an impact can be moved freely within the personal computer case, generating a foreign matter mixed sound. Needless to say, the user may be warned of the possibility of a failure due to an impact, or the failure may be predicted.

The failure warning / prediction device according to the present invention informs the user that an impact force harmful to the laptop computer has been applied, and warns the possibility of failure when the laptop computer is accidentally dropped or hit against a hard object. It is also useful as a failure warning / prediction device for portable electronic devices and the like.
