Abstract
【解決手段】 第1分割部44と第2分割部45aを備え、両分割部44,45を最中状に重ねて各膨出部44cの内側にそれぞれ対応する突出部45cを嵌合し、且つ、該両分割部44,45の端部同士を突き合わせて全体を円形断面とした後、該両分割部44,45の両側縁部同士を溶接X1で固定することによりディフューザ43を形成し、ディフューザ43の端部43aに触媒坦体ケース41を挿入した後、該端部と触媒坦体ケース41の外周面を全周に亘って溶接X2で固定した。

Description
なお、排気系部材を触媒コンバータのディフューザとし、挿入部材を触媒担体が収容された触媒坦体ケースとした場合について説明する。
図1は本発明の実施例1の排気系部材と挿入部材の接続構造が採用された排気系を説明する図、図2は本実施例1のディフューザの分解斜視図、図3は同斜視図、図4、5は本実施例1の触媒コンバータのディフューザと触媒坦体ケースの固定を説明する図である。
図1に示すように、本実施例1の排気系部材と挿入部材の接続構造が採用された排気系では、エンジン1と、エンジン1に接続されたエキゾーストマニホールド2及びフランジ3を介して接続された触媒コンバータ4と、この触媒コンバータ4にフランジ5及び接続管6を介して接続されたサブマフラ7と、このサブマフラ7にフランジ8及び接続管9を介して接続されたメインマフラ10が備えられている。
触媒担体41aは、図示を省略する金属製の波板と平板を多重に券回して略円柱状に形成される金属製触媒坦体、あるいは多孔質のセラミックス製で略円柱状に形成されるセラミック性触媒坦体が採用される他、その軸方向に貫通形成された排気通路の表面に触媒成分(Pt等)が坦持されることにより、触媒坦体ケース41内に流入した排気ガスの有害成分(NOx、CO等)を触媒作用により無害物質(CO2、H2O等)にして排出するようになっている。
なお、金属製触媒坦体の場合には触媒坦体ケース41内に触媒担体41aが拡散接合により固定され、セラミックス製触媒坦体の場合には触媒坦体ケース41内に触媒担体41aがマットを介して圧入固定される。
この際、溶接X1は直線状の溶接線でもって両分割部44,45の両側縁部同士を溶接固定でき、溶接性が良くなっている。
なお、触媒坦体ケース41とディフューザ42及びフランジ3との接続も同様に行う。
以上、説明したように、本実施例1の排気系部材と挿入部材の接続構造にあっては、両側縁部に端部44a,44bを除いて外側へ膨出した膨出部44cを有する略半円筒状の第1分割部44と、両側縁部に端部45a,45bを除いて第1分割部44のそれぞれ対応する膨出部44cの内側に嵌合可能な突出部45cを有する略半円筒状の第2分割部45aを備え、両分割部44,45を最中状に重ねて、各膨出部44cの内側にそれぞれ対応する突出部45cを嵌合し、且つ、該両分割部44,45の端部同士を突き合わせて全体を円形断面とした後、該両分割部44,45の両側縁部同士を溶接X1固定することによりディフューザ43を形成し、ディフューザ43の端部43aに触媒坦体ケース41を挿入した後、該端部と触媒坦体ケース41の外周面を全周に亘って溶接X2固定したため、第1分割部44と第2分割部45aから成るディフューザ43の端部と触媒坦体ケース41の外周面を全周に亘って溶接X2する際に、少量の溶接材で比較的短時間で溶接することができる。
例えば、排気系部材は触媒コンバータ4のディフューザ43に限らず、排気管との接続においても同様の効果を得ることができる。

Claims (2)
- 両側縁部に端部を除いて外側へ膨出した膨出部を有する略半円筒状の第1分割部と、
両側縁部に端部を除いて第1分割部のそれぞれ対応する膨出部の内側に嵌合可能な突出部を有する略半円筒状の第2分割部を備え、
前記両分割部を最中状に重ねて各膨出部の内側にそれぞれ対応する突出部を嵌合し、且つ、該両分割部の端部同士を突き合わせて全体を円形断面とした後、該両分割部の両側縁部同士を溶接固定することにより排気系部材を形成し、
前記排気系部材の端部に挿入部材を挿入した後、該端部と挿入部材の外周面を全周に亘って溶接固定したことを特徴とする排気系部材と挿入部材の接続構造。 - 請求項1記載の排気系部材と挿入部材の接続構造において、
前記排気系部材を触媒コンバータのディフューザとし、挿入部材を触媒担体が収容された触媒坦体ケースとしたことを特徴とする排気系部材と挿入部材の接続構造。
