Abstract
【解決手段】機能性光ファイバからなる光ファイバコイル20を収納する第1の収納部17aと、第1の収納部の外周に機能性光ファイバに光学的に接続されたピグテール光ファイバ15の余長分を巻回して収納する第2の収納部17bを備え、第2の収納部の外周に外部と連通する全周に亘る隙間14を有している。前記の隙間14は、幅狭部14aと、幅広部14bからなる。

Description
図7(B)に示した光接続端末をピグテール光ファイバを介して設ける構成のものは、このピグテール光ファイバを用いることにより、光ファイバモジュールを外部光機器に直接接続することができ、光コネクタによる接続損失の増加を回避することができる。また、光損傷によって光接続端末に不具合が発生した場合、接続端末の交換が容易である。
本発明は、上述した実情に鑑みてなされたもので、外部光機器と直接接続する光コネクタ付きのピグテール光ファイバを、簡単な構成で収納容器内に収納することができ、しかも、任意の長さの余長分を収納して任意の長さで引出すことが可能な光ファイバコイル収納容器と、その収納容器を用いた光ファイバモジュールの提供を目的とする。
図5(B)は、コイルの内径Dが40mmφで、コイルの巻き幅Wを18mmとしたときの、光ファイバの長さとPMDの関係を示したもので、バラツキはあるものの光ファイバが長くなるとPMDが増加して、好ましい特性が得られているとは言い難いものであった。なお、PMDは好ましくは0.2ps以下で、さらに好ましくは0.1psであるとされている。
また、図6の調査結果で、PMDを0.2ps以下とすることができるのは、例えば、D=40mm、W=11.5mm以下の(D/E)=3.5以上であり、PMDを0.1ps以下とすることができるのは、D=40mm、W=6.0mm以下の(D/E)=6.7である。
Claims (7)
- 機能性光ファイバからなる光ファイバコイルを収納する第1の収納部と、前記第1の収納部の外周に前記機能性光ファイバに光学的に接続されたピグテール光ファイバの余長分を巻回して収納する第2の収納部を備え、前記第2の収納部の外周に外部と連通する全周に亘る隙間を有していることを特徴とする光ファイバコイル収納容器。
- 前記隙間は、幅狭部と、幅広部からなることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の光ファイバコイル収納容器。
- 収納容器が多角形状であり、前記幅広部は前記多角形の角部分に形成されていることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の光ファイバコイル収納容器。
- 収納容器が多角形状であり、前記第1の収納部から前記第2の収納部へのピグテール光ファイバの通路は、前記多角形の辺部分に形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の光ファイバコイル収納容器。
- 前記請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の光ファイバコイル収納容器が用いられ、前記第1の収納部に機能性光ファイバからなるコイルが収納され、前記第2の収納部に前記機能性光ファイバに光学的に接続されたピグテール光ファイバの余長分が収納されていることを特徴とする光ファイバモジュール。
- 前記機能性光ファイバからなる光ファイバコイルは、内径をD、巻き幅をWとしたとき、D/Wが3.0以上であることを特徴とする請求項5に記載の光ファイバモジュール。
- 前記機能性光ファイバからなるコイルのファイバ長が500m以下で、偏波モード分散(PMD)が0.2ps以下であることを特徴とする請求項5又は6に記載の光ファイバモジュール。
