Abstract
【解決手段】透明な基板11上に、金属線12が形成されたワイヤーグリッド型偏光子の金属線12の面の凹凸により自己組織化して位相差を発現する位相差機能膜21を形成する。

Description
透明な基板と、前記透明な基板の一方の表面上に互いに平行に形成された複数の金属線からなり、前記金属線の表面上に複屈折性を有する樹脂膜が形成されていることを特徴とする偏光子。
透明な基板と、前記透明な基板の一方の表面上に互いに平行に形成された複数の金属線からなり、前記金属線の表面上に配向制御膜が形成され、前記配向制御膜の表面上に複屈折性を有する樹脂膜が形成されていることを特徴とする偏光子。
透明な基板と、前記透明な基板の一方の表面上に互いに平行に形成された複数の金属線からなり、前記金属線の表面上に光異性化化合物を含有した樹脂膜が形成されており、前記樹脂膜は前記金属線と平行な方向に吸収軸をもつことを特徴とする偏光子。
一対の基板と、前記一対の基板に配置された偏光板と、前記一対の基板間に配置された液晶層と、前記一対の基板の少なくとも何れか一方に形成され、前記液晶層に電界を印加するための電極群と、前記一対の基板のそれぞれに形成された一対の配向制御膜と前記一対の基板外に配置された光源からなる液晶表示装置において、前記光源側の偏光板が請求項1から12に記載の偏光子であることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。
Claims (14)
- 透明な基板と、前記透明な基板の一方の表面上に互いに平行に形成された複数の金属線と、前記金属線の表面上に位相差機能膜を形成することを特徴とする偏光子
- 前記金属線と位相差機能膜との間に配向制御膜を形成することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の偏光子
- 前記位相差機能膜が、液晶分子及び/又は液晶性高分子であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の偏光子
- 前記液晶分子は、分子形状が棒状の棒状液晶分子であり、分子長軸方向が前記金属線の長手方向に平行であることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の偏光子
- 前記液晶分子は、分子形状が円盤状の円盤状液晶分子であり、前記円盤状液晶分子が重なり合った円柱形状の方向が前記金属線の長手方向に平行であることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の偏光子
- 前記液晶分子が、重合により固定化することを特徴とする請求項3に記載の偏光子
- 前記位相差機能膜が、アゾベンゼン系化合物及び/又はスチルベン系化合物の光異性化部位をもつ高分子であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の偏光子
- 前記透明な基板は、ガラス、石英又は樹脂フィルムであることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の偏光子
- 透明な基板と、前記透明な基板の一方の表面上に互いに平行に形成された複数の金属線と、前記金属線の表面上に偏光機能膜を形成することを特徴とする偏光子
- 前記偏光機能膜は、前記金属線と平行又は垂直な方向に吸収軸をもつことを特徴とする請求項9に記載の偏光子
- 前記偏光機能膜は、アゾ系化合物及び/又はスチルベン系化合物からなることを特徴とする請求項9に記載の偏光子
- 前記透明な基板は、ガラス、石英又は樹脂フィルムであることを特徴とする請求項9に記載の偏光子
- 一対の基板と、前記一対の基板に外側に配置された偏光子と、前記一対の基板間に配置された液晶層と、前記一対の基板の少なくとも何れか一方に形成され、前記液晶層に電界を印加するための電極群と、前記一対の基板のそれぞれに形成された一対の配向制御膜と、前記一対の基板の外に配置された光源からなる液晶表示装置において、
前記偏光子が、透明な基板と、前記透明な基板の一方の表面上に互いに平行に形成された複数の金属線とからなり、前記金属線の表面上に位相差機能膜又は偏光機能膜が形成された偏光子であることを特徴とする液晶表示装置 - 前記電界の方向が、前記一対の基板に平行であり、前記液晶層は、ホメオトロピック配向していることを特徴とする請求項12に記載の液晶表示装置
