上記の再生カバーは、既設の柱状標識体1aと同程度の弾性を有する白色の材料で構成し、再帰反射テープ2bを巻き付けておく。再生カバーの地色が白いので、再帰反射テープの視認性が際立つ。
既設道路標識柱のピン孔1eは、予め設けておけばベターであるが、再生カバー装着に際して穿っても、さしたる不具合を生じない。

そこで本例においては、粘着親和性を改善する傾向を有する添加剤を加えるとともに、溶剤で表面処理を施した。溶剤としてはSP(溶解パラメーター)値8〜10の範囲のものが良く、8.6〜9.7の範囲が更に望ましい。
溶剤塗布後の放置時間も重要であって、常温付近(18〜25℃)で3〜10分間が適当であり、3〜6分間であれば更に望ましい。15分間以上は好ましくない。

被補修物である柱状標識体1aのピン孔1eは、予め穿っておくことが望ましいが、修復作業に際してドリルで穿孔しても、さしたる時間,労力を要しない。
