Abstract

【課題】 十分に大きな曲げ強度を確保できるフッ素樹脂材料の溶着構造体を提供する。
【解決手段】 ＰＴＦＥ等の難溶着性のフッ素樹脂材料１０を、互いにその接合面１２が対向するように配置し、接合面１２の間にＰＦＡまたは変性ＰＴＦＥのような熱融着性フッ素樹脂１４を介在させ、加熱圧着して接合する。接合面１２には、互いに対向する凹所１６が形成され、この凹所１６に中芯材１８が嵌入されている。フッ素樹脂材料１０の接合面１２を対向させて配置したときに、互いに対向している凹所１６により１つの中空部が形成され、中芯材１８は、この中空部の中に、接合される２つのフッ素樹脂材料１０の双方に架かるように嵌入されているので、接合部分の曲げ強度を向上させることができる。

Description

本発明は、難溶着性のフッ素樹脂材料を接合するための溶着構造体に関する。
従来より、ポリテトラフルオロエチレン（ＰＴＦＥ）等のフッ素樹脂は、その卓越した熱的、化学的安定性及び電気絶縁性等のために、各種用途に多用されている。このＰＴＦＥは、原料粉をそのまま、または所定の充填材とともに金型に充填して圧縮し、３５０〜４００℃の温度で所定時間加熱して成形する。このような成形後のＰＴＦＥは、融点以上に加熱しても溶着させることが困難な難溶着性のフッ素樹脂材料である。このため、大型の部材を製作するにはＰＴＦＥ材料同士を所定の熱融着性フッ素樹脂材料等を介して溶着し、接合する必要がある。
例えば、下記特許文献１には、ポリテトラフルオロエチレンよりなる成形体を加熱圧着して接合する方法が開示されている。

しかし、上記従来の技術においては、接合部の曲げ強度を十分に確保できないという問題があった。
本発明は、上記従来の課題に鑑みなされたものであり、その目的は、十分に大きな曲げ強度を確保できるフッ素樹脂材料の溶着構造体を提供することにある。
上記目的を達成するために、本発明は、難溶着性のフッ素樹脂材料を、接合面を介して溶着したフッ素樹脂材料の溶着構造体であって、前記接合面には、互いに対向する凹所が形成され、前記凹所には、接合される前記フッ素樹脂材料の双方に架けて中芯材が嵌入されていることを特徴とする。上記中芯材は角柱形状または円柱形状であるのが好適である。
ここで、上記中芯材は少なくとも１つの端面が前記フッ素樹脂材料の表面に露出していてもよい。
また、上記中芯材はフッ素樹脂で形成されているのが好適である。
また、本発明は、難溶着性のフッ素樹脂材料を、接合面を介して溶着したフッ素樹脂材料の溶着構造体であって、前記接合面の一方に凹所が形成され、前記接合面の他方に突起部が形成され、前記突起部が前記凹所に嵌入されていることを特徴とする。
また、上記フッ素樹脂材料の溶着構造体において、前記接合面の間には、熱融着性フッ素樹脂材料が介在されて接合されていることを特徴とする。上記熱融着性フッ素樹脂材料は、テトラフルオロエチレン・パーフルオロアルキルビニルエーテル共重合樹脂（ＰＦＡ）または変性ＰＴＦＥであるのが好適である。
本発明によれば、フッ素樹脂材料の接合面に形成された凹所に中芯材が収容されているので、大きな曲げ強度を確保できる。
以下、本発明を実施するための最良の形態（以下、実施形態という）を、図面に従って説明する。
図１には、本発明にかかるフッ素樹脂材料の溶着構造体の一実施形態の断面図が示される。図１において、ＰＴＦＥ等の難溶着性のフッ素樹脂材料１０は、互いにその接合面１２が対向するように配置され、接合面１２の間にテトラフルオロエチレン・パーフルオロアルキルビニルエーテル共重合樹脂（ＰＦＡ）または変性ＰＴＦＥのような熱融着性フッ素樹脂１４を介在させ、所定の溶着装置により加熱圧着することにより接合される。上記変性ＰＴＦＥとしては、例えば三井デュポンフロロケミカル社製７０Ｊ、ダイキン工業社製Ｍ１１２等がある。また、フッ素樹脂材料１０としては、ガラスファイバーなどのフィラーを配合したＰＴＦＥ等も使用できる。
本発明において特徴的な点は、フッ素樹脂材料１０の接合面１２に、互いに対向する凹所１６が形成され、この凹所１６に中芯材１８が嵌入されている点である。各凹所１６は、フッ素樹脂材料１０の接合面１２を対向させて配置したときに互いに対向する位置に形成されるので、これらの凹所１６により１つの中空部が形成される。中芯材１８は、２つの凹所１６によって形成される中空部の中に、接合される２つのフッ素樹脂材料１０の双方に架かるように嵌入されているので、接合部分の曲げ強度を向上させることができる。中芯材１８の形状は、特に限定されないが、例えば角柱形状、円柱形状等の凹所１６及び中芯材１８の製作が容易な形状とするのが好適である。
図２には、本発明にかかるフッ素樹脂材料の溶着構造体の他の実施形態の斜視図が示される。図２では、破線により内部構造の一部も示されている。図２において、特徴的な点は、中芯材１８の少なくとも１つの端面２０がフッ素樹脂材料１０の表面に露出している点である。対向する２つの端面２０をフッ素樹脂材料１０の表面に露出させてもよい。これにより、２つの凹所１６によって形成される中空部に中芯材１８を嵌入する操作を容易に行うことができる。
図３には、本発明にかかるフッ素樹脂材料の溶着構造体のさらに他の実施形態の断面図が示される。図３において、特徴的な点は、凹所１６が一方のフッ素樹脂材料１０の接合面１２のみに形成され、他方のフッ素樹脂材料１０には、中芯材１８の代わりに突起部１９が形成されている点にある。この突起部１９は、上記一方のフッ素樹脂材料１０の接合面１２に形成された凹所１６に嵌入される。これにより、接合される２つのフッ素樹脂材料１０の両方の接合面１２に形成された凹所１６に中芯材１８を嵌入するのと同じ効果を得ることができる。
図４には、本発明にかかるフッ素樹脂材料の溶着構造体を製作するための溶着装置の構成例の断面図が示される。図４において、２つのフッ素樹脂材料１０は、互いにその接合面１２が対向するように配置され、固定手段２２で支持、固定されている。また、接合面１２に形成され、互いに対向する２つの凹所１６によって構成される中空部には、上述した中芯材１８が嵌入されている。また、フッ素樹脂材料１０の接合面１２の周囲には、接合面１２及びその近傍を、フッ素樹脂材料１０の溶融温度以上の温度に加熱する加熱手段２４が配置されている。さらに、加熱手段２４の両端側には、余熱手段２６が配置されており、フッ素樹脂材料１０の加熱手段２４で加熱される領域である加熱部位の外側を、フッ素樹脂材料１０の溶融温度より低い温度で余熱するように構成されている。
本発明者らは、上記加熱手段２４により加熱を行っている間、上述した加熱部位の外側を余熱手段２６によりフッ素樹脂材料１０の溶融温度より低い温度で予熱することにより、加熱圧着後のフッ素樹脂材料１０の収縮変形を抑制できることを見い出した。この余熱は、加熱手段２４による加熱と同じタイミングで開始及び終了してもよいし、加熱が終了した後所定時間経過するまで継続してもよい。
なお、上記固定手段２２は、フッ素樹脂材料１０を支持、固定できるものであれば限定されないが、例えば油圧式のクランプ等を使用することができる。また、上記加熱手段２４及び余熱手段２６の、フッ素樹脂材料１０の長さ方向における長さは、フッ素樹脂材料１０の径に応じて適宜決定するが、例えば５０ｍｍ×５０ｍｍのフッ素樹脂の角材同士を接合する場合、加熱手段２４及び余熱手段２６の長さを１０〜１００ｍｍの範囲とするのが好適である。
図４に示された溶着装置により２つのフッ素樹脂材料１０の溶着を行うには、フッ素樹脂材料１０を固定手段２２で支持、固定し、接合面１２を対向させてその間にＰＦＡのような熱融着性フッ素樹脂１４を介在させ、余熱手段２６により余熱しつつ、加熱手段２４により所定温度まで加熱する。この場合、余熱温度は２００〜３００℃であり、加熱温度は３５０〜４００℃である。このように、加熱手段２４により接合面１２及びその近傍を、フッ素樹脂材料１０の溶融温度以上の温度で加熱することにより、接合面１２の近傍のフッ素樹脂及び接合面１２の間に介在されたＰＦＡが溶融される。この際、フッ素樹脂材料１０は熱膨張によりその長さ方向に伸びようとするが、固定手段２２によりフッ素樹脂材料１０の上記接合面１２から離隔した部分が支持、固定されているので、対向した接合面１２同士が互いに押圧し合い、その結果接合面１２に２００×１０４Ｎ／ｍ２程度の高い圧力が発生する。このように、接合面１２の近傍の難溶着性フッ素樹脂及びＰＦＡが溶融した状態で所定時間、例えば２．５時間程度圧力を作用させ、その後冷却することにより、ＰＦＡを介して難溶着性フッ素樹脂材料１０同士を接合面１２において接合することができる。
なお、上述したように、加熱圧着する際に、フッ素樹脂材料１０の接合面１２に圧力を作用させるため、中芯材１８の長さは凹所１６によって構成される中空部の長さより若干短くしておくのが好適である。
以上のようにして製作したフッ素樹脂材料の溶着構造体の曲げ強度を測定した。測定には、幅７３．１ｍｍ×厚さ４２．１ｍｍのガラス繊維１５％含有ＰＴＦＥを接合面で接合し、長さ４３０ｍｍとした溶着構造体を使用した。この溶着構造体に使用した中芯材は、幅３７ｍｍ×厚さ１２ｍｍ×長さ１００ｍｍのガラス繊維１５％含有ＰＴＦＥを使用した。また、曲げ試験は、５００ｋｇｆ（４９００Ｎ）のロードセルを使用し、支持スパン４００ｍｍ、曲げ速度１０ｍｍ／分で行った。なお、比較例として、図５に示されるような深さ３５ｍｍの開先部（溶接用の溝）３０を形成し、この開先部３０に溶融したＰＦＡ３２を満たして接合する従来の溶接方法で溶接したフッ素樹脂材料の曲げ試験も上記同様に行った。これらの結果が表１に示される。

表１に示されるように、本発明にかかる溶着構造体の曲げ強度（本発明品強度）は８．０ｍｍのたわみで２１５ｋｇｆ（２１０７Ｎ）であった。この時、接合部の破断はなかった。これに対して、比較例の曲げ強度（比較品強度）は、たわみ５．８〜７．８ｍｍのときに１３０〜１５０ｋｇｆ（１２７４〜１４７０Ｎ）であり、接合部が破断した。これにより、本発明の溶着構造体の曲げ強度が大きく向上しているのがわかる。

Claims (7)

  1. 難溶着性のフッ素樹脂材料を、接合面を介して溶着したフッ素樹脂材料の溶着構造体であって、
    前記接合面には、互いに対向する凹所が形成され、
    前記凹所には、接合される前記フッ素樹脂材料の双方に架けて中芯材が嵌入されていることを特徴とするフッ素樹脂材料の溶着構造体。
  2. 請求項１記載のフッ素樹脂材料の溶着構造体において、前記中芯材は角柱形状または円柱形状であることを特徴とするフッ素樹脂材料の溶着構造体。
  3. 請求項１記載のフッ素樹脂材料の溶着構造体において、前記中芯材は少なくとも１つの端面が前記フッ素樹脂材料の表面に露出していることを特徴とするフッ素樹脂材料の溶着構造体。
  4. 請求項１から請求項３のいずれか一項記載のフッ素樹脂材料の溶着構造体において、前記中芯材はフッ素樹脂で形成されていることを特徴とするフッ素樹脂材料の溶着構造体。
  5. 難溶着性のフッ素樹脂材料を、接合面を介して溶着したフッ素樹脂材料の溶着構造体であって、
    前記接合面の一方に凹所が形成され、
    前記接合面の他方に突起部が形成され、前記突起部が前記凹所に嵌入されていることを特徴とするフッ素樹脂材料の溶着構造体。
  6. 請求項１から請求項５のいずれか一項記載のフッ素樹脂材料の溶着構造体において、前記接合面の間には、熱融着性フッ素樹脂材料が介在されて接合されていることを特徴とするフッ素樹脂材料の溶着構造体。
  7. 請求項６記載のフッ素樹脂材料の溶着構造体において、前記熱融着性フッ素樹脂材料は、テトラフルオロエチレン・パーフルオロアルキルビニルエーテル共重合樹脂（ＰＦＡ）または変性ＰＴＦＥであることを特徴とするフッ素樹脂材料の溶着構造体。
