Abstract
Description
Claims (17)
- 電気泳動粒子を有する表示装置であって:
前記電気泳動粒子の一部が存在する画素電極と対応する対向電極とを有する表示素子;及び
表示される画像情報に対応する所定の光学状態に前記表示素子をもたらすために前記画素電極と前記対向電極とにドライブ信号を供給するための制御手段;
を有する、表示装置であり、
前記制御手段は、第1光学状態に対応する前記2つの電極の一に近い第1位置に前記電気泳動粒子を開放するために十分であるが、第2光学状態に対応する他の電極に近い第2位置に前記電気泳動粒子が達するようにするには小さ過ぎるエネルギーである予め設定されたパルスを有するドライブ信号に先立つ、予め設定された信号を供給するように、更に構成されている;
ことを特徴とする表示装置。 - 請求項1に記載の表示装置であって、前記予め設定されたパルスの持続時間は、2つの次の画像更新の間の時間インタバルより大きさが1桁小さい、ことを特徴とする表示装置。
- 請求項1に記載の表示装置であって、前記制御手段は、負極性又は正極性を有する前期予め設定されたパルスを生成するために更に構成され、前記制御手段は負極性又は正極性を有するパルスを有する前記ドライブ信号を生成するために更に構成され、前記予め設定されたパルスの極性はデータ信号のパルスの極性と反対である、ことを特徴とする表示装置。
- 請求項3に記載の表示装置であって、前記制御手段は予め設定されたパルスの偶数を生成するために更に構成される、ことを特徴とする表示装置。
- 請求項1に記載の表示装置であって、電極の一はデータ電極を有し、他の電極は選択電極を有し、前記制御手段は前記選択電極に選択信号を供給するための第1ドライブ手段と前記データ電極にデータ信号を供給するための第2ドライブ手段とを更に有する、ことを特徴とする表示装置。
- 請求項1に記載の表示装置であって、前記表示素子の前記画素電極はスイッチング素子によりデータ電極又は選択電極に結合され、前記制御手段は前記選択電極に選択信号を供給するための第1ドライブ手段と前記データ電極にデータ信号を供給するための第2ドライブ手段とを更に有する、ことを特徴とする表示装置。
- 請求項5又は6に記載の表示装置であって、表示素子に対応する選択電極は2つのグループにおいて相互接続され、前記制御手段は第1グループへの第1位相を有する第1の予め設定された信号と第2グループへの前記第1位相に反対の第2位相を有する第2リセット信号とを生成するように構成される、ことを特徴とする表示装置。
- 請求項5又は6に記載の表示装置であって、前記第2ドライブ手段は前記予め設定された信号を生成するために構成される、ことを特徴とする表示装置。
- 請求項5又は6に記載の表示装置であって、前記画素電極は前記対向電極を介して前記リセット信号を生成するために前記制御手段に結合される、ことを特徴とする表示装置。
- 請求項9に記載の表示装置であって、前記対向電極は2つの部分に分割され、各々の部分は選択電極を介して接続された表示素子の集合と関連する、ことを特徴とする表示装置。
- 請求項6に記載の表示装置であって、前記画素電極は前記予め設定された信号を受信するために前記制御手段に第1付加容量性素子を介して結合される、ことを特徴とする表示装置。
- 請求項6に記載の表示装置であって、前記画素電極は更なるスイッチング素子を介して前記制御手段に結合される、ことを特徴とする表示装置。
- 請求項1に記載の表示装置であって、2つの基板であって、それら基板の一は透明であり、前記電気泳動粒子は前記2つの基板の間に存在する、ことを特徴とする表示装置。
- 請求項1に記載の表示装置であって、電気泳動材料はカプセル化された電気泳動材料である、ことを特徴とする表示装置。
- 請求項1に記載の表示装置であって、前記画像情報は連続フレームN−1、Nにおいて受けられ、前記表示装置は表示される新しいフレームの前にフレームN−1に直接対応する表示素子の前の表示状態を記憶するためのメモリ手段を更に有し、前記処理手段は前記表示される新しいフレームに対応する前記表示素子の新しい状態と前記記憶された前の状態とに依存して前記ドライブ信号を生成するように更に構成される、ことを特徴とする表示装置。
- 請求項1に記載の表示装置であって、前記画像情報は連続フレームN−1、Nにおいて受けられ、現在のフレームNが表示され且つ前記現在のフレームの現在の表示状態が表示される前にフレームN−1に直接対応する表示素子の前の表示状態を記憶するためのメモリ手段を更に有し、前記処置手段は前記記憶された前の状態、前記現在の状態及び表示される前記新しいフレームN+1に対応する前記表示素子の前記新しい状態に依存して前記ドライブ信号を生成するように構成される、ことを特徴とする表示装置。
- 請求項1に記載の表示装置であって、前記表示装置の動作温度を検知するための温度センサと好ましい階調値と動作温度に依存してドライブ信号を生成するための温度補償回路とを備える、ことを特徴とする表示装置。
