Abstract
【解決手段】非磁性の支持体上に強磁性粉末と結合剤とを含む磁性塗料が塗設されてなる磁気記録媒体の製造方法。磁性塗料は、強磁性粉末と結合剤とを含む磁性液と、研磨材と溶剤とを含む研磨材液とを含む。磁性液と研磨材液とをそれぞれ別個に分散処理し、次いで磁性液と研磨材液とを混合し、しかる後に磁性液と研磨材液との混合液を超音波印加により分散処理する。

上記非磁性中間層の塗布液は、ステアリン酸、ブトキシエチルステアレート、イソヘキサデシルステアレート、及びブチルステアレートを除く各成分をオープンニーダで混練したのち、サンドミルを用いてジルコニアビーズで分散させた。得られた分散液にポリイソシアネートを3部加え、更にステアリン酸、ブトキシエチルステアレート、イソヘキサデシルステアレート、及びブチルステアレートをメチルエチルケトンとシクロヘキサノンで溶解した液を添加攪拌して、固形分濃度28%、溶剤比率がメチルエチルケトン:シクロヘキサノン=4:6の非磁性塗布液を作製した。
S/Nの測定は、米国GUZIK社製のRWA1001型ディスク評価装置及び協同電子システム社製のスピンスタンドLS−90を使用した。トラック幅5μmでギャップ長0.2μmのメタルインギャップヘッドを用い、半径24.6mmの位置において線記録密度100KFCIの信号を書き込み、トラック幅が2.6μmのMRヘッドで再生し、その再生出力(TAA)とDCイレーズ後のノイズレベルを測定し、S/N値を求めた。
フロッピー(登録商標)ディスクドライブ(米国Iomega社製 ZIP100:回転数2968rpm)を用い、半径38mm位置にヘッドを固定し、記録密度34kfciで記録を行った後、その信号を再生し100%とした。その後、サーモサイクルフローを1サイクルとするサーモサイクル環境で1500時間走行させた。走行24時間おきに出力をモニターし、その出力が初期の値の70%以下となった時点をNGとした。そして、NGになるまでに走行時間を記録した。
米国GUZIK社製のRWA1001型ディスク評価装置び協同電子システム社製スピンスタンドLS−90を使用した。予めサンプルの再生出力を測定したMRヘッドを用いて各サンプルのディスク全面を1時間シークさせた。その後、更に未使用のディスクを用いて同一ヘッドで1時間シークを行い、全部で50回繰り返し、計50時間のシークを行った。50枚のメディアをシークさせたヘッドでサンプルの再生出力を再度測定し、シーク前の再生出力からの低下分を算出した(単位:dB)。
磁性液の乾燥物をメノウ乳鉢で粉砕し、カップに詰めてプレスした測定試料を島津製作所製の蛍光X線分析装置XPF・1700型(RhX線管 40kV−95mA、測定面
積10mmφ)で計測し、磁性層中のZr量を蛍光X線で別に求めたビーズ中の含有率で
換算して算出した。比較例1の磁性層中のZr含有量を1として、相対値で磁性層中のZr含有量を示す。
Claims (4)
- 非磁性の支持体上に強磁性粉末と結合剤とを含む磁性塗料が塗設されてなる磁気記録媒体の製造方法において、
前記磁性塗料は、前記強磁性粉末と前記結合剤とを含む磁性液と、研磨材と溶剤とを含む研磨材液とを含み、
前記磁性液と前記研磨材液とをそれぞれ別個に分散処理し、次いで前記磁性液と前記研磨材液とを混合し、しかる後に前記磁性液と前記研磨材液との混合液を超音波印加により分散処理することを特徴とする磁気記録媒体の製造方法。 - 前記研磨材液の分散処理が、バッチ式超音波分散処理装置による第1ステップと、循環式超音波分散処理装置による第2ステップとよりなる請求項1に記載の磁気記録媒体の製造方法。
- 前記研磨材がダイヤモンドである請求項1又は2に記載の磁気記録媒体の製造方法。
- 前記研磨材の平均粒径が0.3μm以下である請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の磁気記録媒体の製造方法。
