像担持体に近接して回転する現像ローラと,前記現像ローラを像担持体に対する現像部分を除いて覆い,内部にトナーを貯留するハウジングとを有する現像装置において,
前記ハウジングには,像担持体に対する現像部分より前記現像ローラの回転の下流側に,前記現像ローラの画像形成領域の少なくとも一方の外部の非画像形成領域に対応する開口が設けられるとともに,前記開口以外の箇所に戻り用開口が設けられており,
前記ハウジングの開口および前記戻り用開口を覆い,前記開口を前記戻り用開口に連通させるダクト部材を有することを特徴とする現像装置。
