Description

【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
TECHNICAL FIELD The present invention relates to a foil stamping machine for stamping a foil having an optically variable device (OVD) such as a hologram formed on a sheet of paper.
[0002]
[Prior art]
2. Description of the Related Art In recent years, holograms are stamped on valuable printed matter such as banknotes, securities, passports, etc., which require the most security, as represented by, for example, euro notes. Also, holograms are now stamped on various credit cards, IC cards, gift certificates, admission tickets, and the like, and there are a wide variety of hologram foil stamping products. The reason why holograms are used in many of these valuable products is that holograms have the property that their images and colors change significantly when the viewing angle is changed, so that anyone can easily determine the authenticity, and This is because there is an advantage that forgery is difficult.
[0003]
For holograms, techniques have also been developed in which the diffraction grating on the foil surface layer is devised to make the optical change more dynamic and to provide hidden information. On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 7, a symbol foil C made of a metal foil on which a forgery prevention information symbol such as a hologram that is visually visually changed is provided, and the symbol foil C is provided corresponding to the symbol foil C, and the position thereof is set. There is a foil stamping machine for forming a pair of register marks (or timing marks) B for designation and for foil stamping using a foil sticking film roll A formed at a certain interval. As shown in FIG. 11, the register mark B is read by an optical sensor, and only the design foil C is pressed on a base material such as paper or card by a press section of a foil press machine in accordance with the read timing, whereby the design foil C is obtained. Has the advantage that it can always be stamped in a fixed position.
[0004]
As shown in FIG. 11, the main mechanism of the foil pressing machine includes a paper feeding unit 2, a foil pressing unit 3, a paper discharging unit 4, and a foil feeding (conveying) unit 5. Specifically, first, the papers 6 are taken out one by one from the stack of the papers 6 and the like serving as the base material in the paper feeding unit 2 and transported to the foil stamping unit 3. On the other hand, in the foil feeding (conveying) section 5, the foil sticking film roll A is attached to the foil input section 5a, and after the foil is conveyed and passed through the foil pressing section 3, it is wound by the foil rewinding section 5b. In the foil pressing unit 3, the paper 6 transported from the paper feed unit 2 and the foil transported by the foil loading unit 5a face each other, and a convex engraving is formed on the fixing plate 3a installed above these. The heating plate is heated at a high temperature, and the pressurizing plate 3b disposed below these members repeats a vertical movement operation. When the pressing plate 3b moves upward, the paper 6 and the foil, in particular, the hologram design C portion are heated and pressed. Then, the foil design is affixed to the paper 6, and the paper 6 to which the foil design is affixed is sequentially discharged and stacked on the paper discharge unit 4. On the other hand, the foil after the foil design has been pressed is wound up by the foil rewinding section 5b.
[0005]
On the other hand, there is a foil-pressing machine of the type which presses a design foil without providing a register mark (or timing mark) B for designating the position of the foil as described above.
Conventionally, in order to check the quality of the paper to which the foil has been attached by the foil pressing machine, the paper discharged to the paper output unit 4 has been extracted and visually inspected by hand to confirm the adhesion quality. In order to improve such a sticking quality inspection by hand, a method or an apparatus for providing a foil sticking inspection mechanism in a foil sticking machine (for example, see JP-A-2002-39729) has been proposed. However, as shown in FIG. 10, this method or apparatus measures the area of the part where the design foil C of the remaining foil after the foil pressing has fallen off by irradiating light, and measures the area within a predetermined range. In order to determine whether or not the foil pressing has been performed reliably, as shown in FIG. 8, as shown in FIG. In this case, the design foil D and the register mark E shown in FIG. 9 are partially deposited on the base film F, and the other areas (the transparent portions F) are transparent. In the case of the vapor-deposited film G (hereinafter, referred to as a partial foil sticking film), when the foil is pressed by the size of the stamp H, even if light is transmitted from the lower part or the upper part, the area where the design foil D falls off and adjacent thereto. Area (transparent part F) Because it is, it is not possible to measure the area of a portion symbol foil D fell out, there is a problem that can not be inspected for foil stamping. Furthermore, since the above-mentioned foil sticking method or apparatus adds a camera to the foil stamping machine, it is impossible to mount the foil stamping machine if there is not enough space for accommodating the camera, and in these conventional foil stamping machines, However, there is a problem that the quantity control of the foil stamping is not performed.

[0028]
First, the foil pressing state determination mechanism 8A will be described.
The foil pressing state determination mechanism 8A determines whether or not the foil pressing has been reliably performed in the foil pressing portion. As shown in FIG. 4, the foil is pressed after being pressed by the foil pressing portion 3 (hereinafter, referred to as “after foil pressing”). Whether or not the register mark E is present on the attached film G is detected by the register mark detecting means after the foil pressing consisting of the optical sensor S3 and the level determination circuit 8a, and the design foil D is present on the foil bonded film G after the foil pressing. It is detected by the foil stamping design foil detecting means comprising the optical sensor S4 and the level judging circuit 8a whether or not the register mark detecting means detects the existence of the register mark (for example, the output of the NOT circuit is "1") after the foil pushing. When the subsequent design foil detecting means detects the absence of the design foil D (the output of the level determination circuit 8a is "1") (for example, the output of the AND circuit is "1"), the sheet Symbol foil determined to have been tooled into place, such foil state in the case of good to continue the stamping operation and the foil conveying operation. On the other hand, when the absence of the register mark or the presence of the design foil D is detected (AND circuit output “0”), the foil is determined to be defective, and the machine (foil transport operation and foil pushing operation) is stopped.
[0029]
The post-foil stamping register mark detecting means includes a register mark light source L3 for irradiating light to the register mark E position of the foil-sticking film G after the foil pressing, and a register mark light source L3 transmitted or reflected at the register mark E position. When the foil pressing operation is performed normally, the register mark E remains as it is after the foil pressing, and the output of the register mark optical sensor S3 is transmitted light. In the case of, the output is low, and in the case of reflected light, the output is high.
[0030]
The post-foil stamping design foil detecting means includes a design foil light source L4 for irradiating light to the position of the design foil D of the foil bonding film G after the foil pressing, and a design foil light source L4 transmitted or reflected at the position of the design foil D. When the foil-pressing operation is performed normally, the design foil D is removed by the foil-pressing operation, and the design foil D does not exist after the foil-pressing. The output of the foil light sensor S4 is high in the case of transmitted light and low in the case of reflected light.
[0031]
Next, the foil inspection mechanism which is a feature of the present invention will be described. The foil inspection mechanism 8B inspects whether or not the register mark E and the design foil D are present at predetermined positions of the foil bonding film G before the foil pressing, and is conveyed to the foil pressing portion as shown in FIG. The pre-foil-register register mark detecting means including the optical sensor S1 for detecting the presence of the register mark E of the foil-bonded film G before the foil pressing and the level determination circuit 8a, It consists of a pre-foil stamping pattern foil detecting means comprising an optical sensor S2 for detecting the presence of the pattern foil D and a level judging circuit 8a, wherein the register mark detecting means before the foil pressing has the register mark E (NOT circuit output is "1"). If the design foil detecting means before foil pressing detects the presence of the design foil D (NOT circuit output is "1") respectively (AND circuit output "1"), the foil is determined to be good. Continues foil conveying operation Te, if one is not present (AND circuit output "0"), it is determined that the foil is poor, to stop the machine (foil transportation operation and stamping operations).
[0032]
The register mark detecting means before foil pressing includes a register mark light source L1 for irradiating light to the position of the register mark E of the foil bonding film G before the foil pressing, and a register mark light source L1 transmitted or reflected at the position of the register mark E. And the register mark optical sensor S1 for detecting light from the light source. When the foil-bonded film G is normal, the register mark E exists, and the output of the register mark optical sensor S1 is transmitted light. Means low output, and high output in the case of reflected light.
[0033]
The design foil detecting means before foil pressing comprises: a design foil light source L2 for irradiating light to the position of the design foil D of the foil bonding film G before foil pressing; and a design foil light source L2 transmitted or reflected at the position of the design foil D. When the foil sticking film G is normal, the design foil D exists, and the output of the design foil optical sensor S2 is transmitted light. Means low output, and high output in the case of reflected light.
[0034]
Incandescent tubes, fluorescent tubes, various discharge tubes, light emitting diodes, laser light sources, infrared light sources, and the like can be used as the light sources L1 to L4, and photoelectric tubes, photodiodes, phototransistors, and the like can be used as the light sensors S1 to S4.
[0035]
Another embodiment of the foil pressing state determining mechanism 8A will be described below. As shown in FIG. 5, whether or not the design foil D exists in the foil sticking film G before being put into the foil stamping unit 3 (hereinafter, referred to as “foil stamping”) is transmitted at the position of the design foil D before foil stamping ( The reflected or reflected light from the pattern foil light source L2 is detected by a pattern foil detecting means (not shown) before the foil pressing composed of the pattern foil light sensor S2, and after the foil is pressed by the foil pressing section 3 (hereinafter, after the foil pressing). The light from the pattern foil light source L4 transmitted (or reflected) at the position of the pattern foil D after the foil pressing is determined as to whether or not the pattern foil D is present in the foil sticking film G). After the foil pressing in step S4, the (second) pattern foil detecting means (not shown) detects the pattern foil, the pattern foil detecting means before the foil pressing detects the presence of the pattern foil D, and the pattern foil detecting means after the foil pressing causes the pattern foil D not to be detected. When the presence is detected respectively, the design foil D is pressed at a predetermined position of the sheet 6 ( Judged to have been deposited). The level of the output of the optical sensor S2 is determined by the level determination circuit 8a ("0" for transmitted light, "1" for low output, and "1" for high output) of the transmitted light, and the level determination output is inverted by the NOT circuit. Thereafter, this is delayed by the delay circuit 8c to make it equal to the output of the optical sensor S2. The level of the output of the optical sensor S3 is determined by the level determination circuit 8a ("0" for transmitted light, "1" for low output, and "1" for high output) with the level determination circuit 8a. By performing a logical operation on the signal and the output signal obtained by inverting and delaying the level determination output of the optical sensor S2 in the AND circuit 8d, the level determination output of the optical sensor S2 that has received the transmitted light from the design foil D before the foil pressing is obtained. The foil pressing state is determined to be "good" only when the level determination output of the optical sensor S4 that has received the transmitted light from the design foil D after the foil pressing at low output "0" is high output "1".
[0036]
FIG. 6 shows a modification of the foil pressing state determination mechanism shown in FIG. The foil pressing state determining mechanism 8A holds the output signal of the level determination circuit of the optical sensor S3 and the output signal of the level determination circuit of the optical sensor S4 in temporary holding means such as a register 8c ', and then determines the foil pressing state shown in FIG. Similar to the mechanism, the logical operation is performed by the AND circuit 8d for determination.
[0037]
In the inspection / management unit 8 of the present invention, as shown in FIG. 4, the output signal of the level determination circuit of the optical sensor S1 which is the detection signal of the register mark (existing) before foil pressing, the design foil (existing) of the foil stamping before foil pressing. The output signal of the level determination circuit of the optical sensor S2 which is the detection signal, the output signal of the level determination circuit of the optical sensor S3 which is the detection signal of the register mark (existing) after the foil pressing, and the detection signal of the symbol foil (absence) after the foil pressing. The output signal of the level determination circuit of a certain optical sensor S4 and the signal of the foil pressing state "good" by the foil pressing state determination mechanism 8A are counted by the counting circuit 8e, respectively, and the number of the register mark and the design foil before and after the foil pressing and the foil pressing. The number of the status “good” is calculated by the counting circuit 8e, and these count values, the determination information of the foil pressing state determination mechanism 8A, the foil inspection information of the foil inspection mechanism 8B, etc. In data collection and management mechanism 8C, and collection management, as necessary, to display or print-out on the display unit 9. The display unit 9 may be used also as a display unit on a console, or may be provided independently.
