本発明は、インターネット上で得られるデータを変換して提供するデータ変換サービス方法およびデータ変換用サーバ装置に関する。

【従来の技術】
従来から、インターネット上には多くの情報が公開され、ＷＷＷ（Ｗｏｒｌｄ　ＷｉｄｅＷｅｂ）のページやＦＴＰ（Ｆｉｌｅ　Ｔｒａｎｓｆｅｒ　Ｐｒｏｔｃｏｌ　）等の形式に基づいて利用されている。特に、ＷＷＷのページ形式では、基本的なブラウザのソフトウエアとともに、プラグインと呼ばれる付加的なソフトウエアが連動して、多彩な表示が可能となり、動画や音声、音楽など、多様なデータの総合的な表示が可能になっている。

インターネットに接続する端末機器も多様化している。一般的には、据置き型のパーソナルコンピュータやワークステーションなどであるけれども、携帯型のＰＤＡ（Ｐｅｒｓｏｎａｌ　Ｄｉｇｉｔａｌ　Ａｓｓｉｓｔａｎｔ）などの情報機器や携帯電話機などからの利用も可能になっている。ただし、ＰＤＡや携帯電話機では、携帯性を重視して筐体が小型化され、表示や入力操作に制約がある。このため、一般的なパーソナルコンピュータ等を前提にしているＷＷＷブラウザなどのソフトウエアを動作させることはできず、それぞれの制約条件を考慮して提供されているデータのみにしかアクセスすることはできない。すなわち、様々なインターネット接続端末が出てきているけれども、その表示は、データ提供者と受ける側とは異なることが多く、表示を適切に行うことができないようなページも出てきている。

特開平１１−２５０００９号公報および特開２００１−２２２４８７号公報には、ＰＤＡなどの携帯情報端末に、インターネット上で提供される情報量の大きなデータを、予め登録されている仕様に合わせてデータ変換して提供したり、データ要求時に付加する制約条件を満たすようにデータ変換して提供する技術がそれぞれ開示されている。特開２０００−２８６９２０号公報には、たとえば走行中の自動車に関して発生する多種多様な情報を、インターネットに送信するデータに変換する技術が開示されている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
インターネットのＷＷＷブラウザなどのソフトウエアは、ＨＴＭＬ（ＨｙｐｅｒＴｅｘｔ　Ｍａｒｋｕｐ　Ｌａｎｇｕａｇｅ）の規約やスクリプト言語に基づいて動作し、これらの技術的な進歩によるバージョンアップが繰返されると、同一のソフトウエアで閲覧するように作成されているページでも、充分に表示させることができない場合がある。また、ソフトウエアが異なる場合は、充分な表示ができなくなる可能性が大きくなる。さらに、携帯情報端末などを使用して、制約条件が大きい場合は、ほとんど表示が不可能になってしまう。すなわち、さまざまなインターネット接続端末や表示ソフトウエア、閲覧ソフトウエアにより、表示される情報が限られたものになったり、あるいはまったく表示することができなくなる等のことも起きてきている。

特開平１１−２５０００９号公報に開示されている先行技術では、サーバ装置と端末装置とのデータ通信の際に、通信フォーマットのサブアドレス領域を利用してリソース情報をサーバ装置が抽出して登録する。特開２００１−２２２４８７号公報に開示されている先行技術では、データを要求するリクエスト情報に制約情報を付加し、データを提供するＷｅｂサーバと携帯情報端末との間に介在するプロキシサーバが制約情報に基づいてデータ変換を行うとしている。しかしながら、携帯情報端末も種類が多く、同一メーカの製品でも、最新のものほど機能が向上している。このため、データ通信やデータ要求に附属して転送されるような情報だけでは、適切な表示を行わせることはできない。たとえ、できるだけ多くの機種に共通で表示可能にするような最大公約数的なデータ変換は可能であっても、そのようなデータ変換では、最新の機種の機能を充分に生かした表示を行わせることはできない。

本発明の目的は、どのような端末やソフトウエアを使用していても、予め登録しておけばユーザの表示端末に、適切な表示等を行わせることができるデータ変換サービス方法およびデータ変換用サーバ装置を提供することである。

【課題を解決するための手段】
本発明は、インターネットに接続される端末装置を有する複数のユーザと契約し、
各ユーザおよび各ユーザが使用する端末装置の表示仕様をユーザデータとして登録しておき、
各端末装置からの要求に応じてインターネット上からデータを取得し、該端末装置のユーザについて登録されている表示仕様に適合するようにデータ変換を行って、変換したデータを要求が出された端末装置に転送し、
データ変換に要するデータ変換サービスの料金を算出し、各ユーザに請求することを特徴とするデータ変換サービス方法である。

本発明に従えば、インターネットに接続される端末装置を有する複数のユーザは、契約して、端末装置の表示仕様をユーザデータとして登録する。各端末装置からの要求に応じて、インターネット上から取得するデータは、登録されている表示仕様に適合するようにデータ変換を行って、変換したデータを要求が出された端末装置に転送する。データ変換に要するデータ変換サービスの料金を算出して各ユーザに請求するので、ユーザはどのような端末やソフトウエアを使用していても、予め登録しておけばユーザの表示端末に、適切な表示等を行わせることが可能なデータ変換を有償で受けることができる。データ変換は有償であるので、単にデータの表示が可能であるだけではなく、最適化された表示が可能なように、登録後、実際にデータ変換を行うまでにデータ変換の準備を行っておくことができる。データ変換サービスの利用が多くなると、端末装置の製造メーカなどからも、データ変換に必要な情報等が提供されることも期待され、サービスの充実を図ることができる。

複数のユーザおよび該ユーザが利用する端末装置の表示仕様が登録されるユーザデータ登録手段と、
各ユーザからの要求に応じてインターネット上からデータを取得し、ユーザデータ登録手段から、該ユーザについて登録されている端末装置の表示仕様に適合するようにデータ変換を行い、該端末装置に転送するデータ変換手段と、
データ変換手段によるデータ変換サービスの料金を算出し、各ユーザに請求する料金演算手段とを含むことを特徴とするデータ変換用サーバ装置である。

図１は、本発明の実施の一形態であるインターネットデータ変換サービスシステム１の概略的な構成を示す。データ変換サーバ２の設置者は、インターネット３に接続される端末装置を有する複数のユーザ４と契約してデータ変換サービスを提供する。サービスセンタなどに設置するデータ変換サーバ２には、ユーザデータ登録手段５と、データ変換手段６と、料金演算手段７とが含まれる。データ変換手段６には、翻訳変換機能８が備えられる。ユーザ４とデータ変換サーバ２との間の接続は、インターネット３や公衆電話回線網、携帯電話網などを介して行うことができる。ユーザ４はサービスセンタに設置されているデータ変換サーバ２にログインし、データの希望表示先を提示する。データ変換サーバ２は、予め登録されているユーザ４を確認後、変換形式をユーザ４に合わせて決定し、データを取得して変換し、変換されたデータを提供する。
