Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition for external use capable of developing excellent antiseptic effect without formulating parabens and having excellent usability and safety by using a specific compound widely used as a perfume solvent in combination with a specific compound widely used as an antiseptic assistant. SOLUTION: The objective composition contains (A) 3-methyl-3- methoxybutanol and (B) 2-phenoxyethanol. The composition is preferably a cosmetic. The amount of the component A is preferably 0.1-10 wt.% based on the total composition and that of the component B is preferably >=0.01 wt.% and as small as possible. The formulating ratio of the components A and B is preferably selected to relatively decrease the amount of a component when the other component is formulated in large amount to effectively exhibit the desired effect. Various cosmetics having excellent antiseptic property as well as excellent usability and safety can be produced by this process without formulating a p-hydroxybenzoic acid ester.

2. Description of the Related Art A composition for external use such as cosmetics is contaminated by microorganisms adhering to pipes of a production line or the like, is contaminated by bacteria on its surface due to contact with the skin of a finger or the like during use, or around water during use. Contamination from such is inevitable. Therefore, in the composition for external use, usually suppresses the growth of microorganisms,

[0003] However, it is not unforeseen that a very small number of sensitive users may be accompanied by a feeling of irritation during use. In recent years, in particular, there has been a tendency for a composition for external use that is more gentle on the skin to be demanded. It is extremely difficult to completely satisfy the recent demand for external compositions only by blending these parabens as preservatives. I can not deny that side.

In fact, according to our research, it has been found that only a part of users who are sensitive to cosmetics containing the parabens complain of skin irritation. Of course, it is also possible to create a composition for external use that does not contain preservatives such as parabens, but in this case, it is necessary to aseptically produce the composition in order to ensure preservative properties, or to reduce the content and the period of use. Due to the need to use complicated means, such as restricting or using subdivision containers or containers that do not return contents (backless tubes, containers with dispensers, etc.), there is a tendency for lack of economy and versatility Becomes stronger.

As a result of the above-mentioned research, the present inventor has found that 3-methyl-3-methoxybutanol, which has been widely used as a solubilizing agent for perfume, has been widely used as a preservative aid. By blending in combination with 2-phenoxyethanol which has been used, surprisingly excellent preservative effect is exhibited, and even if the blending amount of parabens or phenoxyethanol is largely reduced, the antiseptic property which can withstand normal use is ensured. I found that I can do it. That is, in the present invention, although both compounds have the use modes as described above, by using both compounds that have not been conventionally used together, an excellent antiseptic effect is exhibited and the antiseptic property is ensured. I found that I can do it.
