Abstract

Viene fornito un sistema per rilevare difetti in un materiale che viene trasportato da un nastro trasportatore, comprendente una sorgente di luce quale un laser di scansione che viene riflesso da uno specchio rotante sul materiale, un meccanismo di diffusione del raggio situato su di un lato opposto del materiale rispetto al laser di scansione, ed un gruppo di fotodiodi situati così da rilevare la luce diffusa del meccanismo di diffusione del raggio. Vengono rilevati rapidi cambiamenti nella quantità di luce che raggiunge il gruppo di fotodiodi quando è presente un difetto in questo modo producendo un segnale di difetto elettronico avente una forma d'onda differente per tipi differenti di difetti. Il segnale di difetto elettronico viene analizzato per identificare il tipo di difetto, ed il materiale viene diviso secondo il tipo di difetto. Secondo un secondo aspetto della presente invenzione, viene fornito un procedimento per la rilevazione di difetti in un materiale che viene trasportato da un nastro trasportatore comprendente i passi di scandire un raggio di luce su e parzialmente attraverso il materiale, rilevare cambiamenti ad alta velocità nell'intensità della porzione del raggio di luce che passa attraverso il materiale, contare il numero di cambiamenti ad alta velocità nell'intensità rilevata, e dividere il materiale in funzione del numero conteggiato.
