The present invention relates to the sector of preparations for cosmetic or pharmaceutical use, comprising active ingredients dispersed in practically inert substances, with the aim of acting as a solvent or dispersing element.

Among these preparations, those in the form of aspersory powders based on talc or starch or kaolin are particularly popular, all powders with a deodorant, absorbent and dermoprotective effect.

Some of these powders, such as talc, are more active with fats, others, such as kaolin, instead absorb more hydrophilic substances, and for this reason they are often used together with various percentages and combinations. As an addition, the use of antioxidants such as tocopherol, having a deodorizing effect, is also known. In general, however, these products, due to their average composition, are intended to have a bacteriostatic or bactericidal action, a certain absorbent capacity and a simple aseptic covering odor effect.

It is well known to all skilled in the art that among the most effective substances such as adsorbents or deodorants, activated carbon is certainly the one with the greatest potential for removing unwanted gases and liquids. In particular, coal stands out for its porous structure and the large specific surface it can offer (about 1000 m2 / g), practically becoming a real container of air. On the other hand, however, it is also true that the effectiveness of activated carbon is severely limited by the impossibility of being directly applied to sensitive surfaces, and in particular to the skin of the body, due to its staining power and the excessive dehydration that it would cause. in the underlying skin.

A further particularly important feature of activated carbon is that, if supplied in the appropriate forms, it has a good capacity for bacterial and virus adsorption.

Also for these latter reasons, the improvement of the forms of processing and marketing of activated carbon is a fundamental problem for the development of increasingly versatile preparations with high adsorbing and deodorizing power.

The purpose of the present invention is to improve the characteristics of the products in the sector up to now on the market, and to optimize the effectiveness of the activated carbon produced in granular form, eliminating the aforementioned drawbacks and allowing its direct use. on the skin.

This result has been achieved in accordance with the invention by making a preparation for cosmetic and / or pharmaceutical use comprising a mixture of activated carbon in grains and solvent or dispersing substances, which are produced in a smaller size than that of coal in such a way as to constitute a partial coating of the external surface of the carbon itself, in order to make it compatible for direct use on human skin or other sensitive surfaces, without however diminishing its adsorbing capacity for gases and liquids.

The advantages essentially consist in the fact that the preparation has a high adsorbent power (up to three orders of magnitude higher than that of talc), as well as being an excellent absorbent.

A second advantage is given by the fact that, as already mentioned, charcoal does not cover odors, but adsorbs and eliminates the bacteria that cause odors, making the use of bactericides on the skin useless.

In addition to this, the high specific surface of the carbon favors the gaseous exchanges between the skin and the preparation and acts as a water gas exchanger between the skin and the air, favoring the evaporation of sweat and also ensuring efficient dermal insulation.

Finally, as a last advantageous aspect, we remember the lubricating and protective effect offered by the mixture of activated carbon coated with starch, talc or equivalent powders, and the fact that the carbon itself maintains all its effectiveness without however staining or sticking to the underlying fabric.

These and further advantages will be better understood by every person skilled in the art with the help of the following description and the attached drawings, given as a non-limiting example in which:

In the particular embodiment described, activated carbon is used for the production of sprinkling powder to be applied to the skin of the human body, for refreshing and deodorant purposes and in which there is the presence of talc, starch and carbon in the proportions of 84: 14: 2 by weight.

For the preparation of the powder, a treatment of a homogeneous mixture 1: 1 carbon starch is performed in a humid chamber at 70 ° for fifteen minutes, then the rest of the starch is added according to the geometric dilution method. Then everything is kept in the oven at 80 ° for ten minutes, with the effect of making the starch particles swell and improve their bond with the coal. The mixture obtained is then integrated with the talc.

In the embodiment chosen, coal in grains of the "Carbo decolorane" type in a powder of one hundred and seventy meshes, soluble rice starch and base talc was used.

With the proportions and dimensions chosen, a powder was obtained in which weak electrical interactions are created between the covering particles and the carbon, thanks to which the desired partial covering is obtained, originating a physical adsorption on the surface of the coal.

This situation, illustrated in Figure 1, allows the activated carbon to act on the skin without directly adhering to it thanks to the partial interposition of the starch particles which together constitute a mobile coating layer. More specifically, the spherical shape and the appropriate size of the covering particles guarantee the early saturation of the carbon and maintain a weak bond which favors the mobility of the covering layer and the progressive adsorption of the substances to be eliminated. These substances, in fact, being smaller and being able to bind more to the coal, are adsorbed by the internal porosities of the grain, reaching, in limit conditions of saturation of the active surface, to replace the covering particles themselves.

The presence of a coating therefore allows three types of carbon-skin exchange:

- direct exchange at the surface of the free grain that faces the skin;

- physical adsorption with the formation of several layers of substances to be eliminated that bind to the carbon;

- exchange mechanism between the covering particle and the substance to be eliminated, depending on the bond strength of the adsorbed particle.

Advantageously, moreover, this uniform distribution of the solid-solid solution allows the formation of a dermoprotective, insulating and adsorbent layer, which, according to the scheme of fig. 3, behaves similarly to a cushion, but through which the gaseous exchanges with the skin they can occur without exposing the skin to the dangers of blemishes or excess dehydration.

The example given can obviously be extended in a completely analogous way to the use of dispersing powders such as kaolin, starch or animal or vegetable protein fractions.

It is equally evident that the choice of using the coal in grains in the form of sprinkling powder is to be considered one of the possible alternatives and particularly useful for certain applications, but that different embodiments such as pastes or gels or various ointments can be equally considered, without in any case go beyond the scope of protection granted to this Patent for / Industrial invention

CLAIMS 1) Preparation for cosmetic and / or pharmaceutical use, characterized in that it comprises a mixture of activated carbon (1) and solvent or dispersing substances (2), (3), in such a way that these interpose themselves between the surface to be treated and carbon (1) and form a partial coating of the outer region of the carbon itself, in order to make it compatible for direct use on human skin or other sensitive surfaces. 2) Preparation according to claim 1, characterized in that it consists of a sprinkling powder formed by starch (3), talc (2) and activated carbon in grains (1). 3) Preparation according to claims 1 and 2, characterized in that said sprinkling powder is constituted by a mixture of activated carbon in grains (1) of the "Carbo decolorans" type of one hundred and seventy meshes, rice starch powder (3) and powder of base talc (2) in the proportions of 2:14:84 by weight aimed at refreshing and deodorant use for the human body. 4) Preparation according to claims 1-3, characterized in that the dimensions of the dispersing powder are comprised between those of the porosity of the grain and those of the grain itself. 5) Preparation according to the preceding claims, characterized in that said starch (3} and talc (2) powders are spherical in shape. 6) Preparation according to the preceding claims, characterized in that the weight density ratio between the preparation itself and the dispersing powders is close to unity.
