Abstract

A cutting apparatus comprises a welded parallelepipedal frame structure (101), with an inclined plane support rest (102) for a log (116) to be cut. A chain saw (105) is coupled to a support (104) which is rotatably mounted to the base. The support is moved downward by the pedal (123) and/or a handle. During this downward action a mechanism (129-131) controls the speed of the chain saw. As the blade approaches the log it is accelerated to speed and the cut is made. Raising of the saw is facilitated by spring (126) and the chain saw accelerator is de-activated.
