Abstract
A process for the production of non-evaporable getter materials comprising a first stage of preparing a mixture comprising powder of a metal getter element, a first getter alloy, a second getter alloy and an organic compound which is solid at ambient temperature and capable of subliming or decomposing into gaseous products without leaving residues following exposure in air or during heat treatments, in which the said powders have particle sizes less than predetermined values, is described. The aforesaid mixture is then subjected to compression below 1000 kg/cm<2> and then sintered under vacuum or inert gas between 900 and 1200 degree C for a period of between 5 minutes and 1 hour. The invention also relates to high porosity getter material obtained with this process and shaped getter bodies which can be derived from it. <IMAGE>
