Abstract
A process for the production of Destrorfan from 17-formyl- 3-methoxymorphinane is described, and the process comprises: hydrolysis to 3-hydroxymorphinane, methylation with aqueous formaldehyde and formic acid, and finally hydrolysis of the mixture of 3-hydroxy-17- methylmorphinane and 3-formyloxy-17-methylmorphinane.
