Abstract

Overhead conveyor with automatic bag tying device. A general structure supports a horizontal guide at a suitable height within reach of the operator. The guide houses an endless conveyor chain which is driven by a motor and which incorporates equidistant hooks for supporting the bags by their handles when they are full. A bag tying unit closes the bags at the moment when it releases them from the suspension hooks, allowing them to be placed on a conveyor belt or in a container or the like. The conveyor automates and facilitates the present manual process of closing bags with handles of the type incorporating closing cords, and allows the said cords to be dispensed with in the manufacture of the bags. <IMAGE>
