Abstract

The remote unit has a receiver, a keyboard and a battery saving switch to allow operation in an energy conservation mode or in a normal mode. The procedure consists in determining first which mode is enabled by the battery saving switch. If normal operating mode is enabled, energy is periodically applied to the receiver and the keyboard is explored in search of a key operated. If the power conservation mode is enabled, the keyboard is periodically scanned for a key operated, while the receiver remains in a state without power supply.
