Abstract

A chair 10 incorporates a central supporting leg 11 with a unit 12 connecting the latter to the base of a seat 13. Connecting unit 12 comprises a plate 15 which is generically bent into a U-shape with side limbs for attachment to the base of the seat. Within the U there is held a block 19 which has seats facing each other in a corresponding passage on the base of the U to receive an upper end of leg 11. Advantageously a member 26 hinged to block 19 and bearing a support 28 for a back 14 at the other end is located within the U and longitudinally with respect to it. A thrust spring 30 providing further elastic movement of back 14 can be inserted between member 26 and the base of the U. <IMAGE>
