Abstract
Process for the production of a simple nitrogenous fertilizer known as ammonium nitrate having a nitrogen content of between 25 and 31.5% by the formation of mixtures of NH4NO3, gypsum, CaCO3 and (NH4)2SO4 and subsequent prilling or granulation characterized in that the formation of the mixture takes place by feeding NH4NO3 at a temperature of between 120 and 180 degree C in the form of an aqueous solution in a concentration within the range from 95 to 99.6% by weight, the gypsum, expressed as CaSO4 2H2O, in a percentage between 8 and 23% by weight, and that the said mixtures are held at a temperature of between 100 and 160 degree C for a time of not less than 4 minutes. <IMAGE>
