Abstract

The machine for measuring according to the invention is of the type comprising a roller 5 for conveying the hides, having, arranged above it, a plurality of aligned idle rollers 1; the rollers 1 and 5 are provided with means for projecting and receiving electromagnetic radiation of the optical and/or infrared type. Measurement of the surface area of the hides is performed on the basis of the quantity of radiation intercepted by the said hides as well as on the basis of the feed speed thereof. The novel feature of the invention consists in the fact that it has means, consisting for example of special wheels 6, which are also able to detect the thickness of the hides in question and are located on the same measuring side as the means for measuring the surface area of the hide.
