Abstract
Nei procedimenti di depurazione aerobica di liquami civili o industriali si ottiene un eccesso di fanghi biologici dove si concentra la massima parte dei sali di metalli pesanti tossici contenuti nei liquami. Lo stesso dicasi per i fanghi di risulta da trattamenti anaerobici dei suddetti. Entrambi i tipi di fango vengono sottoposti ad un trattamento termico-chimico che provoca il distacco dei sali dei metalli pesanti legati alle cellule vive e loro rilascio nell'acqua di supero dalla quale possono venir separati come sali insolubili tramite un trattamento chimico-fisico. Il solido restante viene inertizzato con calce, cemento e leganti chimici in modo da non dare più reazioni di copertura e per discariche di rifiuti solidi urbani.
