Abstract

Jointed articulation for the backs of armchairs, chairs and the like, of the type which comprise fixed hollow uprights 2 and corresponding hollow elements 3 carrying the reclinable back; it comprises connecting elements, each of which is integral with one end of the fixed upright and with the opposite hinged end inside the corresponding reclinable element, each of the said uprights and corresponding reclinable elements being associated with a pair of rod-shaped elements 8, 8a, one end of which is hinged to the said connecting element and the opposite end of which is guided inside the corresponding reclinable element; the said rod-shaped elements are positioned so that they axially oppose spring means 13 housed inside the reclinable element so as to allow the said rod-shaped elements 8, 8a to act as pivoting struts capable of progressively compressing the said spring means 13 as the angle of inclination of the back increases as the user sits back, and subsequently allow the back to return to its rest position. <IMAGE>
