Abstract

The invention relates to single-use syringes and is aimed at a safer embodiment in so far as the improper re-use of said syringes and the danger of wounding with the needle after an injection are concerned. The invention provides a syringe whose barrel 1 is housed in a protective case 6, 6', in such a manner that it can move axially from an operational position, in which the needle 3 projects outside the associated head of the protective case 6, 6', to a safety position, in which the barrel 1 is retracted relative to the protective case 6, 6', with the needle 3 completely housed inside it, with the provision of elastic means 10 for retraction of the barrel 1 into the safety position and means for locking 11, 5 of the barrel 1 with the protective case 6, 6' in the operational position against the action of the elastic means 10, and able to be automatically disengaged by a member 12 which is integral with the plunger 4 immediately after completion of the injection, i.e. in the position of maximum insertion of the plunger 4. <IMAGE>
