2,2'-Bisphenolsulphoxide derivs. are prepd. by subjecting 2,2'-bisphenolsulphide to oxidn. with H2O2 in organic solvent which does not produce an organic peracid, even when a large excess of H2O2 is employed, no sulphone is produced and any other by-product oxides are not produced. The 2,2'-bisphenolsulphoxide derivs. can be prepd. in high purity and almost quantitatively.
