Abstract

Compositions contg. an antibiotic (I) and a beta keto acid (II) are new. (Where A = CH or N ; B = a benzene, azine or diazine group, opt. substd. by a 1-4C alkyl or alkoxy group, halogens, dioxymethylene or saturated heterocyclic groups; R = H or alkyl). The keto acid (II) is pref. nalidixic acid, oxolinic acid, cinoxacine, piromidic acid, or pipemidic acid. The antibiotic (I) is usually a tetracycline or cephalosporin, esp. pivcephalexine, cephadroxyl, or cefatrixine. Compsns. are active against Gram positive and negative bacteria, esp. resistant strains.
