Abstract
The boot and closure system has a rigid upper shell including a front armoured plate having an upward extension for fully protecting the wearer's shin. The armoured plate is hinged in the manner of a door to an upper flexible cuff having webs which inter leave with the protective plate, allowing adjustment for different leg sizes while sealing out dirt and mud and providing superior protection. The upper shell assembly overlaps the entire foot receiving opening of the lower vamp shell for maximum protection. A connector hinge assembly, which inter connects the shells to allow forward and rearward movement, rockable sideways movement, and twisting movement, is protectively located within the overlapping regions between the shells.
