Abstract

A sampling device in a gas flow duct comprises a housing which extends across the duct. An opening in the housing is exposed to the gas flow. An endless filter in the housing is moved progressively past the opening. As the filter repeatedly passes the opening, its level of contamination increases. The level is sensed by a detector outside the duct.
