Abstract

(1)Alkyl aryl ketone derivs. of formula (I) are new. Ar = opt. substd. aryl; R = 1-4C alkyl; R1, R2 = OH, OM, OR3 or NR4R5; R3 = 1-2C alkyl, 3-6C cycloalkyl, Ph or benzyl; M = alkaline metal cation; R4, R5 = H, 1-4C alkyl, 5-6C cycloalkyl or (CH2)n-CH2OH; n = 1,2 or 3; or R4 + R5 = (CH2)4, (CH2)5 or (CH2)2-R6-(CH2); R6 = O, NH or N-(1-4C alkyl); X = Cl, Br, I, OH, acyloxy, alkylsulphonyloxy or arylsulphonyloxy. The 2 C atoms marked by asterisks are both contemporaneously in the R or S configuration. (2) Intermediates of formula (II) are new. Ar-CHR-COO-CH(COOR1)-CHR10-COR2 (III) R10 = OH, Cl, Br or I.
