Abstract

Character contours are broken down into a series of orthogonal vectors. Pixel drop out occurs where opposite going vectors coincide. The inside pixel (410 or 440) of each vector (400 or 430) is set to the vector length if the length is greater than the set values of the inside and the outside (420,450) pixels. This procedure is repeated for all the vectors for all the contours. At completion all those pixels set to one or more are set on to produce a drop out corrected bit map which is logically OR'd with the original drop out containing bit map.
